About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find a friend in every corner of the world

ABOUT ME

Daaaamn, it's so difficult to write about myself and avoid the cliches... But lets try. I consider myself as a funny person. And random. Yes, I'm random, still searching for myself. Sometimes changing my mind too often. Sometimes too stubborn, sometimes too easy to talk into stuff. Sometimes I'm insanely brave, sometimes way too afraid to get in trouble.
I'm talkative and very interested in other cultures and meeting new people. (which is such a common sentence here ;D) But seriously, I like to hang out with newly met people and somehow usually it feels, I know them for years. I love long conversations no matter about what - if it's political situation, people life story or just deciding what is better blue or green. I admit, sometimes I talk way too much, especially when I feel, that the silence is too awkward. Then the Radio-Me takes place. Which actually makes everything even more awkward if I'm around people who are way too serious. I have strange sense of humour, and always want to hug people who actually get it!

PHILOSOPHY

I have couple of rules I try to follow:
- There is always something good in every situation. Depends only if you're capable to notice and take it.
- You only grow when you step out of your comfort zone.
- The lamest ever, but still we only live once, so in most cases it's better to regret what you've done instead of regret not doing that (unless it's harming others. That doesn't count. Don't do that.)
- No matter what the moral norms of society is, everything is good, if it brings happiness to you and no harm to others.
- And most important rule my mom kept repeating to me I guess since when I was still in her belly - never treat others the way you don't want to be treated by others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly meeting travelers here in my city. Sure, I'm not the best guide, but I can show and tell some stories about the city, Lithuania and Lithuanians.
If I travel and already have where to stay I still try too meet as many CSers as possible - that always makes the travels much much better!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just incredibly positive! 99% (which is a really good result!) people I met through CS were amazing, interesting, super duper, crazy, ...... (insert any positive word here).
People I met are so generous and sincere, that this spirit always amazes me.

Interests

Conquering my fears and making small steps toward myself.
Meeting new people who can share amazing stories (what defines amazing may vary).
Books, movies and sleep. My lazy loves.
Travels, adventures and taking crazy decisions. My action loves.
New experiences.
And humour. Black humour, stupid jokes, random jokes.

Music, Movies, and Books

Was in love with J.Irving (now I believe my feelings to him are a bit cooler); still love E.M.Remarque and just read my first book of H.Murakami, which made me fall instantly for him.
Movies. Oh, I love movies. Everything that reaches the deepest feelings in my chest - whether I'm ending up sobbing to my pillow, sit completely confused or keeping myself not to punch my computer because of all the injustice happening on the screen. The best ones so far could be "Fight Club", "Machinist", "Dancer in the Dark", "Incendies", "Turtles can fly", "Omar", "Trainspotting", "3 Idiots", "Life is beautiful", "Gran Torino", "Song for a Raggy Boy", "Irreversible", "Donnie Darko", "The Hunt". And list could go on and on. I can also be as simple as binge watching "Friends" or "How I Met Your Mother".
Music. Depends on the mood, but "Queen", "Hurts" and "Bon Jovi" will do on any mood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Was homeless for two weeks in Greece, slept in a bar;
Jumped from the rock to the sea (it was high, I promise! Not me, the rock.);
Climbed two hours through mountains just to see amazing beach;
Went to play football to the tournament not even actually knowing the rules (that was really fun. Poor referee.)

Teach, Learn, Share

I would be awful teacher if I actually had to be one. BUT as it comes in sharing my knowledge about my country, culture and every day life, I'm more than ready to start talking.
I even can teach you Lithuanian, which actually isn't very useful outside this country, but nobody knows what will happen in the future. Maybe someday Lithuanians will rule the world. Or maybe not. Most probably not. But it is still nice to know how to say 'hello', 'bye' and 'thank you' in local language. Right?
I also know couple of Lithuanian cuisine dishes. The very easy ones, so I really can share that.
And what I'm really good at - forcing people to try Lithuanian specialities - our best traditional food, our best beer and our best snacks.
