CURRENT MISSION
Drink a lot of tea in a lot of different places
ABOUT ME
Hi!! I'm Aawa (pronounced 'Ah-wa') I love to travel (surprise surprise!), to explore cultures, languages, music, forests, cities, kitchens... But I also love a cup of tea and a book, or relaxing with friends and a beer and a good home cooked meal. I love the beautiful man made places in the world and especially the beautiful natural places - we have some pretty amazing forests, deserts, beaches and mountains in Australia of which I'm lucky to have had a pretty good taste! Music is pretty central to my life - practising the flute, jamming, playing concerts, going to concerts and gigs, dancing (terribly). I love it all and it makes me happppppyyy.
PHILOSOPHY
Wow. um well, take care of our environment, in Australia I think our stunning natural places are our greatest legacy to the future. So think to the future but don't live for it. Have a cup of tea!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have done a fair bit of surfing across Europe and I have met some really wonderful people and made some close friends through this community! Pretty soon I hope I will be able to give back to the couchsurfing community by offering up a comfy bed or sofa in Melbourne or New York, depending on where I end up for the next few years.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I think it is one of the best ways to meet locals when you're travelling. I had an unbelievable, amazing, totally inspiring time couchsurfing in Ireland, Norway, Germany and France in 2012 and I really think it is the best idea. I met some truly amazing people who blew me away with their hospitality and kindness (although I surfed through a friend's profile, so my references don't really reflect my surfing experience, in case you're wondering!). Couchsurfing brings adventure into travelling and makes for what I think is a much more holistic experience of a place since you're not just ticking the boxes of what you're 'meant' to see.
