ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small town in Ohio, but I've traveled a decent amount through my Middle Eastern family. I feel a compulsive need to travel but can't do it as often as I'd like.

My hobbies are reading, running, cycling, graffiti hunting, urban exploration, hiking, and cooking.

Also, I'm gay. Figured I should put that out there.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be objective, open minded and spontaneous. I'll try almost anything once or twice or ten times (I know everyone says that, but I mean it).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Offering a couch in the DC metro area and attending nearby couch surfing events, and hoping to surf for the first time in London.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

What better way could there be to experience the world than by being shown around by the people who live in it? I've only hosted so far but hope this will change soon.

Interests

Meeting new people from different backgrounds and experiencing different ways of life. Reading, music, cooking and eating food (a LOT of food), graffiti hunting, urban exploration, and friends. The outdoors, bicycling, concerts, watching cheesy scifi movies. Most importantly, seeing how many donuts can be gobbled down in an hour. It's an art.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
The Omnivore's Dilemma, Little Prince, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, A Clockwork Orange, the Vampire Chronicles, the Alchemist, Neverwhere, Harry Potter, and many, many more. Some favorite authors are Oscar Wilde, Michael Pollan, Khalil Gibran, Poe and Rumi.

Music:
Too much and varied to list, but to get an idea--
Techno, house, metal, alternative and industrial rock.
Nine Inch Nails, Tool Muse, Paul Oakenfold, The White Stripes, Gorillaz, The Black Keys, Daft Punk, The Roots, Knaan, Rage Against the Machine, Arctic Monkeys.

Movies:
I don't watch as many movies as I should. But I love horror, scifi, drama and political documentaries. Harry Potter, Hitchhiker's Guide, Interview with a Vampire, Forks over Knives, Serenity, Star Wars, Paris Je T'aime and X-Men are some favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing? Hm. Well, last week I let someone play with fire balls on my skin while naked in front of a crowd of people. That was pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have mad cooking skills and love to share them with people. I'm a tech geek and good with electronics and computers. Also, I enjoy teaching people dirty phrases in Arabic then making them use them inappropriately.
