About Me

Hi there! My name is Abbey. I grew up in Reno, NV. For those of you haven't heard of the "Biggest Little City", it's a hip town on the edge of the Nevada/California border. Reno has been an excellent place to grow up, its got the perfect mixture of the great outdoors (being less than an hour away from Lake Tahoe), a decent food and bar scene with just the right amount of dirty to keep things exciting. I went to college for Journalism and Photography, though traveling and bartending has kind of been my gig for the past few years. I can't complain, seeing the world has been exciting and I can sling a pretty mean cocktail too. I've traveled mostly throughout Asia, but each day brings a new idea of where I should go next. Food plays a pretty big role in this decision. If there is good food, I MUST GO! My favorite travel buddy is my boyfriend Steve, who joins me on all my adventures. We've been together for quite some time, but still seem to surprise each other daily with new, weird things to talk about. I hope we get the chance to meet YOU-whoever is reading my profile at this very moment!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is an interesting way to meet new people and immerse oneself into a new culture. I have yet to participate, but I love the idea of people opening their homes to fellow travelers in hopes of one day their guest returning the favor. I look forward to hosting when I make my way back to the US or wherever I end up.

Interests

My main interests right now are travel and photography, usually the two go hand in hand. Traveling has been the perfect subject for my work as a photographer. There is always something interesting to photograph and new lessons to learn along the way. Its also a fun way to meet other travelers. Most people always have a camera with them, even if its just their phone, so its great way to share stories and look at other people's work.

Other Interests:
I would consider myself to be a bit of a food junky. Nothing brings me more joy than a delicious meal and good company.

I love all music, but I'm terrible at discovering new artists so please share your favorites with me. I like anything and everything!

I'm also interested in learning new accents and the occasional drunken karaoke.
