About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am in no hurry to grow up and get a 9 to 5 job, so until the time comes for me to settle down I by no means plan to. So until then I plan to travel and meet all amazing, interesting, quirky people world wide.

ABOUT ME

I am a student who is truly in no hurry to grow up and in the meantime I hope to experience as much as I can. I am studying abroad in Bonn, Germany this spring and cannot wait to be abroad for over 6 months. I am an outgoing, fun loving, friendly, and passionate girl. Talking to people and hearing their stories are the best part of traveling anywhere and I am always up for a chat about anything from music to books to just sharing random stories.

Currently I work at Hilltop Daycare on my college campus and I absolutely love my job. Seeing as I really am just a big kid, I don't see how I couldn't. I get to play with play-doe, play tag, and read to 4 year olds. Every day I go to work I hear a new fun fact from the kids and they are always excited to see me.

My future occupation is a bit of a toss up at this point, I'm considering going into occupational therapy or something to do with psychology. Some day that will all get worked out though. In the mean time, I figure traveling and talking to people is the best way to figure myself out a bit more.

PHILOSOPHY

I live life hoping that in some tiny way I am some how helping someone else have a good day. I like to see other people smile and enjoy life as much as I do. You really can't be too serious about much of anything or else you will just look back one day and wonder where all of the time went and nobody wants to do that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed on a few couches and enjoyed every minute of it. I would love to host anyone who comes through Lawrence and needs a place to stay or just wants to grab a bit to eat or coffee.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the summer of 2009 my brother and I traveled across Europe. We went from Amsterdam where we coach surfed with a wonderful couple who cooked us a fantastic burrito dinner to Caen, France where we enjoyed a night of wine, cheese, and great music with another couple. From there we stayed in a few hostels and with friends in Marseille, Interlaken, Salzburg, and various cities throughout Germany.

Interests

I love books and a wide variety of books at that. I play tennis, run, swim, am just really over all a fairly active person. Coffee and ice-cream are two solid food groups in my diet and I am always up for either (Lawrence has a great ice-cream shop downtown that I am pretty much a regular at)

Music, Movies, and Books

Ben Gibbard, I am a huge Ben Gibbard fan. I like a variety of music, it really just has to match my mood. I'll listen to rock, indie, classical (when studying naturally), rap, a little country but not much, and I'm always open and excited to hear new bands and artist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

By far my most memorable experience was when my brother and I rented a moped and drove it around the Alps in Interlaken. We were way to broke at that point in our trip to try any of the extreme sports they had to offer so we decided to go for the more budget friendly tourist attraction. Naturally the fist thing my brother does though is try to drive the tiny little moped with both of us on it up a mountain. So of course, and somehow to my brother's surpise, the thing stops and we start rolling backwards down the mountain. We get it stopped, pull it off to the side, and kick start it to get it going again. Needless to say, I drove for a while after that. Driving around Interlaken on a moped might not sound that exciting but it was a beautiful and entertaining afternoon.

Teach, Learn, Share

Baking is one skill I can truly say I hold. I'm not very musically incline, although I do love a good guitar player or drummer, but I definitely can bake. I enjoy cooking as well and love trying new recipes and learning dishes from different parts of the world but there's just something about baking. It might be the fact that I love chocolate but I can bake a mean cake or cookie.

Currently I am working on improving my Germany but I would really like to learn a little of any language.
