About Me
Hello there, my name is Abby.
I appreciate experience more than just about anything. I love hiking, swimming, and camping; most things of an outdoor nature. I thoroughly enjoy nights spent on the couch binge watching television and movies. But I have just as much fun at a nice place with good beer. I live at the Jersey shore in a small beach bungalow that I’ve decorated with reused and repurposed furniture, as thriftiness exudes from my pores.
My dog and cat are the loves of my life, my garden is my passion, and my friends are the water that quenches my metaphorical thirst.
You’ll often find me listening to live music at a local venue, soaking up the sun at the beach, or hanging at the dog park.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couch surfing to meet interesting people, learn about different cultures, and make great friends.
I was recently inspired to do this, after picking up a young hitch hiker from Amsterdam. It made me realize that if I want to see the world, I just have to get out there and do it. And I'd love to lend my couch to anyone with the same aspirations.

Music, Movies, and Books
Just a taste, but I enjoy variety in everything.
Music: cake, vampire weekend, Ben folds, jack Johnson, say anything, the weepies, the zombies, the Beatles, Eminem, twenty one pilots
Movies: fantastic mr. Fox, alien, saving private Ryan, Donnie darko, silver linings playbook, rocket science, fight club
Books: My favorite book is Abarat by Clive Barker. Science fiction fantasy is my favorite genre, but I always have a soft spot for those classics where the protagonist offs himself at the end. You struggle, then you die, and maybe you're enlightened.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I changed careers in the middle of covid because I realized I simply wasn’t happy in my day to day life.
Choosing to choose myself may have been the single most amazing choice I’ve made in my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm open to learning anything and everything. Knowledge is the best currency in my opinion. And I could teach a variety of things, from swing dancing, mixology, and English.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can work on conversational English with hosts. I am always up to date on current events, and have interests ranging from food to environmental issues to world politics and am always interested in sharing ideas. I am a decent cook, and an experienced bartender and would be willing to make a meal or share some trade secrets.
