About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To figure out my mission.

PHILOSOPHY

do what you will, harm no one.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Everyone should see this big, beautiful world as frequently as possible... that is easier to do when we're sharing our sleeping and friending resources.

Interests

I like cooking but prefer baking. I like to sew and embroider and to garden (esp. flowers). Hiking, biking (though I left my beloved bike in West Texas), playing in water, climbing trees, sleeping in the shade of trees and building fires are also all good things. I enjoy drawing trees.

I like drinking beer while reading books in the sunshine, and I enjoy talking with strangers about their human experience, their families, their days. I enjoy eavesdropping on strangers in public places which is a more honest description of people watching.

I like freight trains, oceanic freighters, pick-up trucks, tinyhomes, trailers, and boats. I enjoy hitchhiking because you get to see the kindness of strangers in action. I like airports and I enjoy the entire experience of flying, beginning at check-in. Every single time I'm in a plane that is taking off, I think, "Oh my God I cannot believe we figured out how to fly. We're in an 800K lb metal tube and we're flying. Right now. Wow."

I do not like Greyhound. Even a little.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmmm... I have much to teach, I'm sure, but I'm not confident what it is. I love to bake. No joke. I can teach you all about eggs at different temperatures and the outcome of cutting vs folding vs whipping butter. I can help you build a garden. I can teach you to harvest vegetables. I can advise you on homeopathics (but I am not a doctor) and on how to roll the perfect cigarette. I can talk your ear off about organic food and trade systems.

I want to learn to work on car engines! I want to learn to make stained glass, to rock climb, pretty much if there are things you now how to do, I'm interested in understanding what they are, why you do them, and if you're so inclined, then trying to do them, too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to cook. Additionally, I can clean (and actively do clean up after myself).

I will gladly assist you in projects around the house - build a fence, a chicken coop, mow the lawn before your landlord comes over, construct a shed... I do this and much more.

My greatest skill, though, is that I can listen to and consider really complicated problems you are facing in your life and remind you why you are a strong, intelligent, compassionate human being who already knows how to handle even the biggest predicament (I don't know why, and I know it sounds quite cheesy, but I am really good at this.).
