About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Create and build this life by the work of my hands

ABOUT ME

I am curious and enjoying listening to the stories and thoughts of my fellow human beings. I love crafts, especially ones that are useful and involve raw natural materials/resources. I find beauty in just about everything and am happiest when I am creating something with someone else--crafts, music, art, a home-cooked meal, a game, fresh ideas, anything.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in learning something every day, in asking questions always, and never ceasing to be amazed with the world. There is a story to everyone and everything, only waiting to be discovered. The journey of life never stops, and only gets better when it is shared with other lives, human and otherwise.

Wherever you go, there you are.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd love to host you if you can pin my down, and I look forward to sleeping on your couch in my travels as well!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have slept on a few couches in my travels by car and bicycle across the country. I love the opportunity for community that couchsurfing brings, allowing you to connect with interesting people living different and similar lives in places I pass through. The best is when we get to play music together, cook, and share stories. When I can host, I love the excitement and new energy that guests bring. The best fits are those who feel comfortable with other people or on their own, are not afraid to speak up about their needs, and are respectful of others' space.

Interests

Outdoor adventures, music (fiddling, singing, West African drumming/music), dancing, bicycling, ecology, field guides, DIY projects, homebrewing, tree-climbing, gardening, cooking, knitting, crafts, puzzles, spirituality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time a tree let me in on its secrets. I put my ear to its bark, high in its branches, and inside I heard the liquids flowing, the bustling of the leaves, the growth that was occurring in this organism so stoic and old. Afterwards, I understood life a little bit better.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make wine, and cook and bake a lot of things. I know a lot of plants by scientific name and how to identify them as well as some of the edible and medicinal properties. I have lots of ideas about the world to bounce around. I can spin yarn, knit, sew, build things like rain barrels and tire swings, and write poetry and essays. I'm pretty good at massages and haircuts. I'll harmonize with whatever you sing, and can fiddle or make a beat behind any chords.
