About Me
Back in Couchsurfing this year, 2023🌟
Hello, I'm Huiyi/Abby, a 27-year-old Malaysian Chinese who was born and raised in Malaysia. I recently quit my job to explore and experience life more. I used to work as a curriculum designer and translator for a Chinese learning app. Prior to that, I taught Chinese to students of all ages, from kindergarten to university, so if you are interested to learn some very useful Chinese phrases, I am more than willing to help. :)
When it comes to travel, I prefer to take things slow, make friends along the way, and immerse myself in the local culture. There's nothing quite like learning from the people and places around you. My passion for travel started in 2015 when I was studying in Ireland. During that time, I took a solo trip to Belgium and the Netherlands, and I've been hooked on exploring the world ever since. For me, the beauty of the world is not just in its landscapes but also in the people and their stories.
My latest adventure was volunteering in Tavan, Vietnam, in June 2022. It was an incredible experience that left an indelible mark on me. I enjoyed it so much that I went back with my mom in April this year to relive the memories. I'm always thrilled to swap travel tales, learn about new cultures, and share my own stories.
It's weird to praise myself haha, but my friends always say I'm an easy-going, friendly, and open-minded person :) so let's connect!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To learn and dive into different culture along the journey.
Interests
I am more of a generalist and have many interests.
I believe the core of man's spirit comes from new experiences, that's why I'm passionate about traveling and seeing more of the world, meeting new people, and trying out new things. I believe that every experience is an opportunity to learn, grow, and expand our horizons. So, I'm always eager to explore new destinations, cultures, and perspectives, and I approach each adventure with an open mind and a sense of curiosity. Whether it's trekking through the mountains or wandering through a bustling city, I'm always ready for the next adventure that life has in store.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all genres of music, love indie folk and chilly vibe music in particular.
As an avid movie watcher, I have a keen appreciation for films that captivate and engage the audience with their intricate and thought-provoking storylines. It's not just about being entertained, but also about gaining new insights and perspectives on life.
When it comes to books, I have a wide-ranging taste that spans across various genres and styles. The books I'm most interested in lately are those related to interpersonal communication. Currently reading a Chinese book《爱情这门课,你可别挂科!》梁永安 and 'Brief Answers to the Big Questions' by Stephen Hawking.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always excited to share my passion for Chinese language, cooking, and culture with others. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced learner, I'm happy to help you explore these fascinating subjects and deepen your understanding of Chinese traditions and customs.
Also, I find it fascinating to learn about the philosophy of life from people of different cultures. Hope to learn more from you!
