About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore the beautiful world and immerse myself in new cultures!

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Abby, and I'm from Texas. I am easy going, love to talk to people, and love traveling.

I come from a family of five- I have an older sister, and a younger brother so I am in the middle. I have lived in Texas most of my life, but the rest of my family lives on the East Coast. I don't know where I'll end up in the States, but I'm pretty open to anything.

I am hoping to go back to school to become an occupational therapist, because I love working with kids and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Right now though I want to travel and improve my Spanish. Ever since fall 2009 when I studied abroad in Italy I have wanted to see and experience more of the world so thats where I am now!!

Last year I lived in Spain and it was a really challenging and good experience, but this year I think I'm switching it up and heading to South America!

PHILOSOPHY

I think it is important to find joy in every single day, and surround yourself with people and experiences that push you to be a better person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I currently do not have a couch for someone to surf, but when I do I would love to participate in this way! I would love to meet up for coffee or a snack wherever I end up next.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love couchSurfing because it allows different cultures to connect so easily! You get to meet awesome people from all over the world and learn about who they are and how they live. I feel like couchsurfing has made so many of my travel experiences unique and awesome.

Interests

I love outdoor activities like kayaking and hiking, and I love to run! I like the idea of doing some sort of race in every country that I live in. The ocean is a place I love to go, and being by the water is one of my favorite things. I enjoy cooking, painting and random art projects, and spending time with people I love. I don't really get bored very much, so I can be very content doing very little.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I studied abroad in Florence, Italy we were walking around on our last night and it began to snow. Locals said it is extremely rare for there to be snow in the city, and they had not seen it since they were children! Although it caused a few problems (just a cancelled flight back to the States...nooo big deal haha) it was such a gorgeous way to end my trip, and so amazing and unique to see the beautiful city all covered in white!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to practice speaking if someone wants to trade Spanish for English!
