About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Right now I am living and studying in Bremen Germany at HFK Bremen (University of Art & Design). I want to explore this beautiful country while I'm here and meet all the amazing people. I already love Germany, but don't want to miss out on any of the magic this place has to share. Before I go home in September I'd like to explore the Black Forest, visit Poland (because I have polish heritage), and do trips that locals recommend!

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Abby Nowakowski. I paint, draw, hike a ton, crochet, play A LITTLE uke, and play roller derby. I am married to a very handsome lad, who I lived 6 months with in our rad 1980 vandura; lucy.

When I travel I generally attempt to soak up as much 'culture' as possible by avoiding tourist traps and staying with locals. I don't have many reviews...so if you'd like to creep me on facebook to see that I'm really who I say I am that's cool :) it's probably because I don't couch surf that often as a solo female.

Some would consider me friendly, bubbly, easy-going, and adventurous.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a couchsurfer because it's the perfect type of travelling for me. I love going with the flow, and often hosts have amazing suggestions and somethings you just CAN'T PLAN!

Interests

I love to paint, do yoga, hike, and teach what I love! I am currently double majoring in studio art and art history at the University of Guelph in Ontario. I am very passionate about art and being creative. Which helped me score an awesome job teaching art classes at the Guelph School of Arts in Guelph. I was part of an awesome outdoor program called "geo-venture", we would do week long canoe, hiking, white water trips. We focused on biology, geography, and outdoor ed. I have taught yoga at HI-Lake Louise Alpine Center and love exploring new places.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love folk, indie rock, reggae, old school hip-hop, and really anything I can move to. My favourite movie is Big Fish or Maudie. I like reads like Alice in wonderland, lovely bones, but prefer to doodle!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While Dev (my husband) and I were roadtripping through the states we created so many happy memories together. My favourite is maybe when we camped at the bottom of the Grand Canyon and stayed up late to see the milky way. It was kind of an outer body experience to see something that I can only explain as magic.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach art to children, and knowing I'm helping to blossom their creativity really means a lot to me. I am also really open to learning anything that I can benefit from; like learning more about endangered species, playing a new instrument, or trying new food, it's all part of the experience!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Like I said before, I love teaching what I'm passionate about. Leading a group through sun salutations or sitting down to help bring out the little Picasso in everyone.

Countries I’ve Visited
