Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
traveling the American West, gathering stories, making connections, seeking community, finding the meaning of (my) life, etc.
ABOUT ME
Right now, I'm trying to figure out my "best and highest use." How to combine my limited resources, gifts, and passions to create the most possible good, at a cultural moment where doing good feels kind of futile. Balancing my desperate need for hope and purpose with a healthy dose of cynicism. And when it all gets too heavy, I just act ridiculous and try to make people laugh.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm pretty sick of living in front of my personal computer in climate-controlled rooms, writing for a micro-audience. I'm trying to do something about that.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm transitioning right now between Austin and somewhere else, so my life and schedule are pretty up in the air. That said, I owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the folks of the CS community, and I like to repay it whenever I realistically can. If you're passing through Austin, I can at least point you to the right places and at most offer your a couch or an air-mattress.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I spent six months driving up the spine of the Rockies, relying on my shoddy planning skills, instincts, and the kindness of strangers. I owe people from Houston to Missoula for the good time I had. I look forward to the day that I'm settled enough to properly repay them.
Interests
myths of apocalypse, the myth of the American West, intentional communities, eco-villages, survival skills, black coffee, microbrews, spicy foods, bourbon, the natural world, books, humans, animals, undoing centuries of anthropocentric earth-ravaging
