Overview
About Me
I live in Zanzibar and I'm involved with community since I'm a kid. I traveled to other African countries, to Canada and to European countries in order to improve PDS, a charitable organization that I created in 2017.
I was the President of Zanzibar University in 2015/2016. Then, I established an Outreach Program for the sake of doing research about the problems faced by our community. It appeared that the more recurrent problem was unemployment. That's how I got the idea to create PDS.
PDS is a charitable organization and we have a Zanzibar-style house with 6 rooms and their private bathrooms. So, we can welcome guests who want to experience something more than simple tourism, who want to live a meaningful experience close to the community and local people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
PDS House has enough room to welcome volunteers and guests. I believe guests can have a great experience in this kind of environment. They can live close to the community, meet with volunteers from all over the world, discover the true Zanzibar.
Of course, if the guests want to get more involved with the community, they are welcomed to volunteer and join one of the programs available in PDS.
On the other hand, I am a Tour Guide. I organize different tours and safari in Zanzibar such as Prison Island, Safari Blue, Spice Tour and so on. Also, I provide transport services such as airport/seaport pick-up and drop-off, hotel transfer etc... Everything for the best price ever!
I am on Couchsurfing because I believe I will meet with good people looking for an authentic adventure in Zanzibar who deserve to get the best services for a reasonable price. Indeed, a lot of tour guides and the touristic industry in Tanzania take advantage of the tourists, comparing to other countries like Indonesia. I want to change that.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In my life I will never forget when I was the President of the Students Union in Zanzibar University.
I used to do a lot of things to defend the students' rights, like creating a vegetable garden, establishing microfinance to support the students who have business ideas, improving the student's hostel and cafeteria, visiting different countries, attending to international conferences and so on...
It was captivating, amazing, demanding, intense, all of it at the same time.
Teach, Learn, Share
Through my initiative, PDS established a Cultural Exchange Program that guests can join. They will get chance to enjoy traditionnal dancing from our team, they will taste local food, they can learn Swahili, they can have a village tour to meet with the community and so much more.
It's a unique opportunity to exchange about our different cultures. If they are willing to, guests can even teach their language, cook their food, sing typical songs of their home country and so much more. There are so many possibilities.
