About Me

My name is Matin, I'm from Afghanistan, born in Iran and grew up all the way from 1 years old till 25 in Malaysia and I'm currently working as a Cluster Coordinator with an NGO in Herat province.

I'm really passionate about Debating, Public Speaking, and Teaching with my hobbies being mostly reading novels, trying new recipe's to cook, and learning new things to do.

I've won a public speaking competition in Malaysia, worked as a Translator (Persian to English/Malay) with INGOs in Malaysia and as a Court Interpreter for Palace of Justice Malaysia and currently working with an NGO for emergency projects.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy getting to know new people and what their stories are like growing up, especially those from different culture or background.

This first started at my University in Malaysia where there are international students from all across the world and later on when i took part in Conferences and entered my Career World.

It's a good platform to expand one another's world view and to give a helping hand with accommodation when required.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't know where to start with movies since I'm a huge movie freak :P

But when it comes to Books/Novels, my favorite would be
1. Cry of a Peacock by Gina H Nahai
2. A Thousand Splendid Sun by Khaled Husseini
3. And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Husseini

And lastly for music, it all depends on my mood honestly, jazz is a good genre i enjoy most of the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Won a Public Speaking Competition which was aired on local television in Malaysia and went on to be talk show guest for multiple talk shows that year.
