About Me
Hey there! I’m Muhammad Rafay, a 22-year-old - turning 23 in Dec.
A traveler from Karachi, Pakistan.
I’ve always believed that money can come and go, but time is something we can never get back. So, why waste it? When life gets tough, I just pack my bags and go. That’s when I find my freedom.
In 2022, life was not going great. Everything felt like it was falling apart, so I decided to take a break. I said, “Enough! I need a change,” and took off on a solo trip to Skardu. I had no plan, just a backpack and a feeling that I needed to get away.
The journey was amazing—Skardu’s mountains, lakes, and valleys were like something out of a dream. I remember it made me feel so small but also so at peace with everything. That trip taught me that sometimes, the best way to find yourself is by getting lost in nature.
Since then, I’ve explored many places in Pakistan. Every place was different and gave me new memories. The northern areas, especially, blew my mind with their beauty. I felt lucky to experience the different cultures and meet so many warm-hearted people along the way.
But this year was when I really took things up a notch. Things were not going well for me, mentally or professionally. I was feeling stuck, so I made another big decision. I shut down my office, sold everything I didn’t need, and left home for 83 days of solo backpacking across Southeast Asia.
I traveled through 🇹🇭Thailand, 🇰🇭Cambodia,🇱🇦Laos, 🇻🇳Vietnam, and 🇮🇩Indonesia. I met people from all over the world, made some lifelong friendships, and faced challenges I never expected—like getting lost, running out of money, and navigating new cities on my own. But every tough moment taught me something important.
I don’t regret a single penny I spent on that trip. It gave me stories and memories that I’ll keep forever. Now that I’m back, I can’t stop thinking about my next adventure. I’m ready to travel long-term and make new connections, see more places, and keep this journey going.
My plan is to travel as simply as possible—Couchsurfing, hitchhiking, volunteering, and just living with what I can carry in my backpack. If you decide to host me, I’d love to share stories from my trips to Pakistan or how I survived a few tough days on the road in South East Asia. And some experience with the Marketing industry.
I also want to hear about your life, your experiences, and what makes your journey unique.
I haven’t updated my Couchsurfing photos yet, but I’ll add more soon. In the meantime, you can check out my Instagram @me.rafay to see some moments from my travels.
Looking forward to meeting you and sharing new memories!
Thanks for reading ;)
