About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Develop myself through experiences.

ABOUT ME

I'm a senior at Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin. I'm an international student, having studied through 10th grade in my hometown, Dhaka, Bangladesh. I also studied in Kolkata, India fro grades 11 and 12 before coming over to the US, which was one of the most valuable experiences I've had in my life. In college, I'm studying Math and Economics as majors, and have dabbled in Theater Arts and Philosophy.

I like travelling. I've been fortunate to visit a few countries in Europe and South East Asia with my parents. I want to travel a lot during my stay in the US.

PHILOSOPHY

There's something to learn from most things. Getting rid of judgment and keeping a critical mindset can take you through incredible stories and experiences, and leave you with a little nugget of wisdom at the end (or an upgrade to your existing nuggets).

I like to live and let live. I'm not religious simply because I like to do the right thing on my own and I'm concerned with building my own fate. I enjoy being acutely aware of all decisions I make, and consistently try to make myself a better person, intellectually, experientially and individually.

I really believe that life's true beauty lies in experiences. And as long as something's not life threatening, against my morals or harmful to others, I'd probably try it out at least once.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in a dorm, so I can't really host. But I'd love to hang out if schedules match, and would be really glad to be able to get a couch when I'm travelling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In december 2013, my first winter break in the US, I spent about 11 days couchsurfing in Chicago. It was the most amazing experience I could've imagined for my very first trip within the US. I met some great people, heard their stories and even helped them out with their christmas decorations. Those 11 days with three hosts really opened my eyes about the kindness of people in this CS community.

In March 2015, I stayed with a further three people in Boston, and once again - it was an amazing experience. Particularly, I stayed in Cambridge, MA a few blocks away from Harvard Square - that was so incredibly cool.

Interests

I think. I take photographs. I talk to people. I geek out over student government affairs and obsessively read about thought leadership. I love Economics. Also, theatre arts and philosophy and English. I just took a philosophy class called 'Women and Friendship', and dissected friendships in my head like never before.

A friend once said I go to bed connecting dots in my head. It's probably true. I'm kinda lazy, but something's going on in my head pretty much all the time.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can tell you about life in Asia - I've experienced Bangladesh, India, and China first hand. We can discuss my experiences in the states as a foreign student, particularly in the current, conflicted climate. I love cooking and if we have time, I could cook a mean chicken curry.
