About Me

For all and anyone:

Here a few ideas for Berlin:

- If weather is good: get a BIKE somewhere (they usually rent for 10 Euros per day) and explore Fridrichshain/Kreuzberg/Neukölln/Mitte/Prenzlberg/Moabit

- BOULDERING (like rock-climbing but without the rope, instead with mats to fall on) at Kegel (http://derkegel.de/, if weather is good - its partially outdors) or Ostbloc (https://ostbloc.de/, if weather is bad). Bring jeans or long sweatpants and a comfortable shirt, shoes can be borrowed there. Costs: Kegel: less than 10 Euros with shoes, Ostbloc around 12 Euros with shoes.

- Central Kino (http://www.kino-central.de/) or Filmrauschpalast (http://www.filmrausch.de/) for MOVIES - they always show original with subtitles (OmU) so if you understand the original language youre good to go. (And should you return in summer, you absolutely need to go to the open air cinema: http://www.freiluftkino-kreuzberg.de/)

- There are cheap tickets for students (10-12 Euros) for one of the OPERAS (Deutsch Oper Berlin http://www.deutscheoperberlin.de/) come an hour early and bring your student ID - coming an hour early is not too bad - if you understand German, theres is an introduction upstairs, if you don't, there is a nice Pizza restaurant with reasonable prices about two minutes down the road (Don Giovanni). For classical music lovers: Phillharmonie and Konzerthaus also have cheap student tickets. If you're not a student anymore consider buying a "Classic Card" for 15 Euros - with that you'll get tickets to all three big opera houses (Komische Oper and Staatsoper, both of which are also highly recommendable) and many other venues for less than 10 Euros and you're guaranteed the best available seats - but you have to be younger than 30 to get that.

- TO CHILL OUT:
Klunkerkranich on top of Neuköllnenarcaden (walk in and take the elvator) next to U7 station "Rathaus Neukölln".

Tadshikische Teestube (teahouse, central-asian style): http://www.tadshikische-teestube.de/

Atelier Cafe (http://www.ateliercafemitte.blogspot.de/) - a tiny place in Moabit where you can get nice (and cheap) photos taken, portrait/passport/whatever and very good coffee and as often as I was there, there were always interesting people around to talk.

Fiaker - the very best place for breakfast (at any time) and all kinds of coffee (http://www.moabit-und-mehr.de/restaurants-und-mehr/fiaker/)

- SIGHTS: Get up on the BERLINER DOM, visit the HISTORICAL MUSEUM located just next to it, see, if you can meet a tour at the Hohenschönhausen Prison (it is an ex-GDR prison (mostly for political reasons) with tourguides who are mostly ex-prisoners from there), don't miss the silent room in one of the sites of the Brandenburg gate and the the memorial for the Nazis' burning of the books on the Bebelplatz (its a small window between the cobbelstones), then of course the Pergamonmuseum, the Berlinische Museum (mostly photos), Hamburger Bahnhof (modern art), Gemäldegallerie (paintings) and the list does go on...

- CLUBS; try Brunnen70, ZKU, Berghain, sisyphos, about:blank, etc..

CURRENT MISSION

Take the world in! Favourably travelling with my boyfriend :-)

ABOUT ME

Severe case of wanderlust, fun to have around, relaxed and talkative, into music and languages, glad to have found law to be against all odds the subject I fancy and study at university, ambitious, bit quirky, artistic, hardly ever quite on time, non the less reliable, adventurous, honest, bit moody, this will do for starters;-)

PHILOSOPHY

There's only one true downside of life: the dilemma of either lacking time or money.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I’ve been moving so much that due to mostly temporary living situations I did not yet get to host guests though I would love to.

I’ve couchsurfed with 5 hosts so far in 3 countries - all amazing experiences. If I had the coiche between a 5***** luxury hotel and couchsurfing I would always prefer the couchsufing experience - it is simply invaluable.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had the most awesome trip to NYC surfing couches in Hoboken and Manhattan. And finally fulfilled my dream to visit Israel via Couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

So much!
Music: love opera, other than that a quite wide range, currently really into Parov Stelar, Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple, Amanda Palmer.

Books: love to read, but its tricky to find the necessary time - so I'm not even close to having read as much as I would have liked to. I just kinda jump from one book to another, trying to catch up a little on literature or relax. I like Hesse, Munro, Bulgakov, Nabokov, De Bruyn, Robert Schneider, Wilde, many others.

Movies: I’ve just discovered my favourite movie of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHIPLASH - watch and enjoy a continously through the roof level of adrenaline, raw emotions and great music all wrapped up in a simple down to earth and very plausible story.

Other than that....: I basically dislike any movie that has a clear lable to it: I absolutely can't stand scary movies, I find most comedies bit dreary and I dislike action movies. But the cinema is probably the one place where I have spend most of my time consuming art. Some of the movies I liked much were; In the order of disappearance, Heli, Im Keller, Paradies: Hoffnung, Im Labyrinth des Schweigens, L'exercise de l'etat, La vie d'Adele, Sightseers, The Hunt, 7 days in Havanna, Boyhood, Still life, Nymphomaniac, Haialarm am Müggelsee, Pride, Brugges, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

huh, amazing things... hard to go on and just brag about something you did, eh? there are some stories though I love to tell over and over, but the thing is, I don't really like me being like that, so I definetly won't prove it by writing those things down.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love to learn languages, anyone I can practice English/French, Russian or Turkish with (French I manage somewhat, Russian of which I unserstand a littel an Turkish with which I've just started out).
I guess I can teach some vocal techniques, but I would be kind of an experiment, I've never tried to pass that kind of thing on before... Other than that I love to just hang around someone with a guitar or piano or whatever else and do some singing...
