About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life is shorter than we think. And if we haven't travel enough, we have just flipped through one page of the book called life. My idea of travel is to infuse creativity and give a sense of direction/perspective to my life.

ABOUT ME

I am very easy-going, extremely approachable and a socially active guy who loves talking/chilling/being around people. Due to the nature of my job (I am a journalist), I meet a lot of different people almost everyday be it on the job, while playing, at a party or while traveling. Because I love to talk to people on just about anything/everything, I am able to connect with people easily and understand their sensitivities and their background. I think people across the globe are all the same, what differs is the way you connect with them. Language barriers are hardly a problem because when you make an effort to understand people from different cultural backgrounds, language becomes irrelevant. Being able to connect with someone is most beautiful thing in this world and that's most important to me. Also, what really gives me focus in life are three things: my cherished motorcycle (Royal Enfield), my pet dog (labrador Retreiver) and travel, without which I wouldn't be the person I am today. I love people who care about humanity, and are sensitive to people's needs. Love and sensitivity is important to me.

PHILOSOPHY

Every individual should know their purpose in life. Sometimes, people realise it earlier, sometimes later. Point is to know what one really wants to do/achieve. It's not easy to get a focus in life when there are too many things to worry about in life like job, family, complicated relationships, money etc. I have struggled to get a focus myself, but I realised that I get focus when I am engaged in any kind of outdoor activities such as trekking, running, cycling or simply motorycling off to the hills. This gives me focus and helps me channelise my energies in the right direction. Travelling has played a big role in shaping my future and what I am today, because when you travel you have a single-minded focus and the variety of experiences you gain from seeing new places, experiences, people, you suddenly understand the importance of 'LIVING IN THE MOMENT'. Time and money will never be on our side, so I make sure to enjoy each moment as they come and also in some ways plan a little so whenever I fall, i can always get back on my feet and start again. Live every moment as if it's your last and open your heart to the world! You give love, you get love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although I don't have a rich couchsurfing experience to talk about, but suffice to say that I have had my share of experiences in countries like Singapore and Germany where I have stayed at people I met there. I would obviously like to travel more, meet people and get more couchsurfing experience.

Interests

If there's one thing I swear by that's fitness and sports. I love playing football, badminton, mountain cycling, ultimate frisbee and little bit of Spanish Guitar. Though that's limited to only a few songs, but still :) Most of all, I love biking to different places in India. Would love to do a cross-country tour from India to Spain once in my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I just saw the Grand Budapest and totally loved it. Brilliant movie by Wes Anderson. My personal favourite is The Shining by Stanley Kubrick. My favourite author is Haruki Murakami - Norwegian woods, A wild sheep Chase, Kafka on the shore..Aside from that, I love how Chuck Palahniuk writes...especially Fight Club...As for music, I love deep House, Metal, EDM, Blues and Jazz, House, progressive metal and dance. Love the band called Clean Bandit, Megadeth, Sepultura, Swedish House Mafia, Nickey Romero, Avicii, Armin etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Definitely, Mountain cycling (MTB). I have participated in bike races in the Himalayas and I can tell you that it's one of the most exhilarating experience ever. It showed me how not to be afraid of pushing your limits and gave me a sense of accomplishment at the end of it. The best bit was racing downhill at 50 km\hr. It's very scary. People should take risks in life otherwise they wouldn't ever know what they are truly made of!

Teach, Learn, Share

I admit I am not a warehouse of knowledge and skills. But over the years, I have cultivated a few skill sets that have shaped my personality. I love making paper collage, a kind of a portrait of anything with the help of torn pieces of paper. It's an extremely engaging activity that spurs creativity. Besides, I love photography (people and landscape) and outdoor sports like Badminton, Football, mountain biking(MTB). I also find the concept of a 'Photo-Walk' very cool, where you decide on a place and go click pictures with a few concepts in your mind. this again I find very challenging especially because It forces you to think out of the box as to what can make a picture frame look real good. Lastly, motorycling on my Royal Enfield 350 cc. Nothing really beats the feeling of riding off into the mountains. Motorcycling is not only about the act, but also reveals and shapes ones character. How you ride a motorcycle can tell a lot about what kind of person you are.
