Overview
About Me
My name is Abhishek. I love reading, watching films, cooking and running. I am currently training to become a teacher. I am passionate about Education/Learning.
Work Experience
Between 2013 to 2019, I gained six years of experience working as an Education Professional and Research Associate at Consilience Education Foundation, The American School of Bombay and as an independent youth worker.
Training and education
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Arts in English Literature and Psychology from Mumbai University and a Master's Degree in Arts in Education Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University. I will begin a B.Ed program at Western University in London, Ontario from September 2019.
Background
In 2013, I took a year off from university to undertake a qualitative research project titled, ‘Education from a Student Perspective in India’. The objective was to visit and study innovative learning spaces and institutions across the country to collect data and stories on progressive learning methodologies. I was fortunate to interact with over 20,000 students in 120 schools in 15 cities during the year. I decided to document my observations on a blog titled, ‘Learning is Beautiful’ @www.abhishekshetty.me. In 2014, I got an opportunity to present these findings to 800 teachers at the National Teachers Parliament in Nagpur. Between 2015 to 2019, I got to document some of my learnings as a researcher in the following publications 1. Academic Excellence (2012) 2. Competence (2016) 3. Gap Year (2016) 4. 101 Habits to Greatness (2013) 5. Innovation Profiles (2015) 6. Curiosity (2015) 7. think.make.learn education journal (2017 to 2019). I currently document my learning at www.abhishekshetty.com.
Career Objective
I am currently based in London, Ontario and am actively seeking part-time work opportunities to gain Canadian work experience. My experience as an educator can add value to varied kinds of work environments.
