ABOUT ME

I'm Andy. I'm on the path to being able to call myself an artist. I'm a very inquisitive person. I realize it's a big world that we live in and I want to see as much as I can. My long-term goal right now is to become a film maker, focusing on short subject documentaries. There are steps in between that goal and where I'm at now, namely a photojournalism degree.

The last few years have been interesting. I went to Memphis to pursue an art degree with a concentration in photography. After a few semesters I came to realize that I valued the connections I had made in art school more than the institution itself. With that in mind I dropped out and founded a community based non-profit with a few MCA alumnus. The goal was to take an crumbling warehouse we found and turn it into an artists hub for the midtown memphis area. The project (and location) eventually fell through, but I cherish the days I spent living in an old warehouse. Never been happier.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be honest with people without stepping on any toes. I feel like we would be a more productive society if people were more honest with themselves and each other. I stay open-minded and curious.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm brand new to the couchsurfing.com experience, but I'm familiar to sharing the wealth when I have it. During my warehouse days there was definitely space available, and on a few occasions we were able to provide space to groups of traveling musicians. Completely positive experience.
