About Me
You can find me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/absentmindednes/
Born and raised in Ankara, Turkey and studied Civil Engineering there. Now I am studying Media in Gießen and also working in the field. I am always eager to try new things, explore different perspectives in life and engage in conversations about life, travel, people, music, and philosophy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love adventure, meeting new people, and exploring different parts of the world - all while saving some money on accommodation! Couchsurfing lets me do all that while travelling.
As for my Couchsurfing experience, I spent five years of my life in Konya. After staying at a student residence for two years, I finally moved to my own place. Living alone gave me the opportunity to host people from around the world, which was a truly wonderful experience!
Music, Movies, and Books
Books:
My all-time favorite book is "Dharma Bums" by Jack Kerouac - it's incredible. I also enjoy reading books about the Beat Generation, travel, and music. Some of my favorite authors include Allen Ginsberg, Allan Weisbecker, Haruki Murakami, Chuck Palahniuk, Charles Bukowski, Osamu Dazai, Jonathan Safran Foer, William S. Burroughs.
Movies:
Some of my favorite directors include Xavier Dolan, John Carney, Shunji Iwai, Takeshi Kitano, Takeshi Miike. Some of my favorite movies include "All About Lily Chou-Chou," "Dazed and Confused," "Velvet Goldmine," "Factotum," and "Hazard" and I also have to admit that I enjoy watching cheesy movies from the 80s and 90s.
Music:
I'm in love with trip-hop, synthpop, new wave, post-punk, and 80s music, and I'm a big fan of Morrissey, Patti Smith and Bowie.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being alive!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to make Turkish tea and coffee, share some great and easy Turkish recipes, provide basic information about photography, show you how to use a 35mm film camera, teach you how to use Photoshop and Premiere Pro, help you learn Turkish language, share important things to know about hitchhiking, and offer tips about budget travel.
I'm always open to learning about new cultures. I love asking questions and listening to stories, and I want to learn about as many different cultures as possible.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can bring enthusiasm, travel stories, laughter, and curiosity to your home. I can also help with cooking and cleaning, and introduce you to Turkish culture. I'm a good listener and great company!
