About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn new things - all knowledge is worth having

ABOUT ME

Hrm... I believe everything is worth trying at least once. I can be both extremely outgoing and extremely introverted. Depending on my mood I want to stay in and have a quiet evening reading, or go out and have a crazy night partying. I love to have adventures.

I love to dance, and I'll usually groove out given the slightest opportunity. I'm currently taking ballet and modern, but I also love swing, salsa, pole dancing, clubbing - though I hate to wear shoes when I dance, and apparently clubs kind of frown on that - any kind of moving to a rhythm is a blast. I've recently tried bollywood, and I'm completely hooked.

My newest passion is circus classes - I've started learning aerials and acro yoga, and it is SO COOL!!

I love language, and can usually pick up the basics pretty quickly when I'm in another country, though I usually also forget it pretty quickly if I don't use it, so my functional speaking is limited to french and English.

I was lucky enough to be born the child of two avid backpackers, so I've been traveling since a young age, and though we did the 'all inclusive' thing once or twice, my parents have always been big on actually experiencing the place that you're visiting (they've gone hunting with the Mbuti, amongst other adventures!).

Also, as should be apparent by now, I tend to talk a lot.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything is possible, you just have to want it badly enough.

"Laugh when you can, apologize when you should
Let go of what you can't change
Kiss slowly, play hard, forgive quickly
Take chances, give everything and have no regrets
Life is too short to be anything but happy"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've now hosted a couple times and surfed a bit as well, and definitely plan on continuing with both, as well as going out to the local events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had my first few surfers through, and it was amazing - they've all been super fun and awesome people. I'm looking forward to more of the same.

I've also surfed a few times on my recent backpacking trip through the UK and had an absolute blast - it's such a great way to properly experience the places you visit.

Interests

Giving a detailed description of all my interests would create a serious tl;dr entry, so I'll just touch on the highlights:
Cooking, Dance, Sleep, Long hot baths, Snowboarding, Biking, My Pets, Music, Reading, Adventures, Silliness Massages...

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I'm a sucker for any dance movie, even when they're absolutely terrible, as most of them are (I'm looking at you, Step Up 3D), though usually I just fastforward the awful plot lines to the extended music video sections. I also enjoy action movies, martial arts films and super hero flicks - with the occasional thinky drama thrown in, a la Black Swan (whoops, that's also technically a dance movie)...

Music: Pretty much anything I can move to. Most of the time it's fun stuff like La Roux or Florence and the Machine, but I've also been known to enjoy metal, rock, and all those other endlessly dissected music sub genres that I don't know the names of.

Books: Anything. Everything. Backs of cereal boxes. I like sci-fi and fantasy that explores controversial themes and allows you to look at them in a new light. I'm currently reading the Y the Last Man series, which I very strongly recommend (especially if you're not a reader... it's got pictures!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been lucky enough to have a lot of amazing moments in my life - parasailing in the BVIs, hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings, hiking through the rockies - Most recently I would say it was being climbed on by monkeys in Jaipur and feeding them peanuts.

Teach, Learn, Share

My brain hangs on to random facts, so I can be counted on to provide absolutely useless trivia on a wide variety of topics. I'd love to pick up as much as I can of a new language and learn any skills that I can - practical or merely nifty. I enjoy teaching people how to cook, and I also love feeding people - so whether you're interested in learning or just interested in eating, I'd be happy to jump in!

I can also show you the basics of acro yoga - I'm a pretty solid base, and have had partners up to 220 lbs, so if you're interested in trying flying, I can give you a taste!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook, and will happily prepare a meal for us to share. I'm also almost always up for a good debate or discussion, and I love to hang out and talk over a bottle of wine or 3 :)
