About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'm on a road trip across the US seeing if I can find a new place to call home!
ABOUT ME
I'm lucky in that I love what I do for a living, I code during the day for the bills and in the evening for the thrills. I can have fun with most anyone and try not to get caught up in the hype. I'm always learning something new, and willing to try pretty much anything once. I spend a lot of time bouldering or doing yoga, but love kicking back to have a beer and interesting conversation with some good friends.
Right now I'm really focused on improving myself, and living a more fulfilling life. I want to experience more of what the world has to offer but at the same time, I'd like to find a place I feel like I could call home and try to make it better which is part of what this trip of mine is all about. I feel very aware of how where I've lived has influenced, and even limited, my world view, so I'm really interested in learning about different places, and meeting the people who live there which is why I'm psyched to be here on Couchsurfing.
PHILOSOPHY
I could a small book on this, but I'd prefer to talk to you about it. If I had to pick a core tenet it would be that it's all about perspective...that's why I'm trying to broaden mine!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well I just joined the community and have already started surfing in Austin, TX! It's been such an awesome experience so far that even though I don't yet have a place of my own, I can't wait to host in the future!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Delicious craft-brews and burgers at the Black Star Co-op.
Milkshakes and queso during Skyfall at the Alamo Drafthouse.
Waiting two hours in line on the coldest day of the year at Franklin's, tasting the divine brisket, and feeling like it was totally worth it.
Experiencing the lip-numbing goodness of kava for the first-time at Squarerüt.
Check out the local craft and food scene at a farmer's market, craft fair and Wheatsville!
Wunder-Pilz Kombucha, breakfast tacos @ the Cherrywood Cafe, shrimp & grits @ Yellow Jacket.
Laughing uncontrollably playing Cards Against Humanity snuggled in blankets, covered in cats and basking in the glow of the fire crackling on the TV screen.
Homemade meatballs, tacos, and the densest bread I've ever seen! Do I need to say more? It's been amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I think about it, the three most amazing experiences in my life have been pretty similar. The first was when I was an exchange student in Germany. I was still in high-school, but I was hanging out with all these college kids from all over the world, but despite our different backgrounds and ages, we all became really close, and hung out every night after class. From disco clubs in Berlin to the pot-luck dinners at the youth hostel, it was an eye-opening experience for a 16 year old, and definitely drove home that we're all more alike than we are different.
The second & third moments were when I went to Australia by myself. The whole trip was amazing, but two moments really stand out. The first was when I went to see the Blue Mountains from Sydney. Having stayed up late going out with my new hostel friends, I woke up late and didn't get to the mountains until late afternoon. I had bought a ticket for a bus tour, but when I got there, I found I had made a mistake and bought the ticket for a different day, and the last bus for the day had already left! I thought I was SOL, but the guy working the counter, talked to the owner and said since his shift was ending he'd just give me the tour himself! I couldn't believe it, but apparently he was also a tour guide (in addition to running his own sheep farm in the area) for the company. We hopped in his red pickup truck and he gave me the whole tour, and even dropped me off at the train station to catch the last one back to Sydney! To this day, it's the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for me.
The other moment that really stands out was when I signed up for a three day trip from Alice Springs to Uluru. It was the same situation, a bus load of strangers who became best friends practically over night. From the whole bus singing karaoke "Don't Stop Believing" in the middle of the Outback to showing everyone how to make s'mores around a midnight bonfire, it was one of the best (& coldest haha!) experiences of my life. Even now I can see where everyone sat on the bus in my mind.
