About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Not to get a panic attack while travelling

ABOUT ME

Hi, I am Anna and I try to do both - feeding neurotic want-it-all animal inside of me while staying a little fairytale character, who wants to do nothing, just wander through the world and notice its supposed miracles.

I am very open minded. In fact so much open minded, that if my mind was a house, I think there would be no roof. This is very inconvenient in winters.

I studied psychology and journalism. Not enough. I am starting with studying arts school this fall - screenwriting. Yet still, deep in my heart, I hope I'll end up as a bar singer one day. :D

PHILOSOPHY

I like to imagine that my life is some kind of a TV series made up of small episodes, each one following this simple scheme - living in kind of an ilusion, act up on this ilusion, fail, learn the lesson. But then it gets complicated, 'cos I usually find out I misinterpreted the whole situation and built up other ilusion.. Gosh, if I was a TV show producer and hear this, I think I would just force me to smile and politely say something like Thank you, that's very interesting, I'll call you next week, alright?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can't exactly host people right now as I'm living in a small flat with three other people. But in the light of my last CS experiences, I definitely want to find a way to get more involved with this amazing project.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No matter what kind of panic my mum and aunts go through everytime when I tell them I slept at a stranger's house, CS is something incredible.

I hosted a friend from Romania. I've already been hosted in Stockholm, Paris, Vienna and Den Bosch. All of my experience has been amazing. Better than Christmas, really!

While spending summer in Spain, CS has been my principle gate to the best moments I experienced.

Interests

Only recently I found out that I'm really keen on writing. I had no idea, I thought it was just one of my hobbies, but once I got a bit lonely in a foreign country, I discovered that embracing and cuddling words helps me a great deal to get over whatever situation I go through.

I like losing track of time and reality in surprisingly deep conversations with strangers.

I like music in a bit weird way. Not really listening to it massivelly, but I guess as some people like to grab some breeds and make a small necklace, I like grabbing ukulele, guitar, piano or just my voice and make a simple melodies. I wouldn't dare to call it making art or anything, but it makes me very happy.

I like taking photographs of people in their best angels, where they look better than they actually do. You might call it fake and superficial, I call it a self-esteem booster, which in some cases is a very necessary thing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a fan of films like Lost in Translation, Woody Allen movies, , Her, Tiny Furniture, Adaptation, Fight Club, Francesh Ha, Big Fish, Belle de Jour, Pleasantville, Contact, Back to the future, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, Shame, Shutter Island, Paris, Texas ..

Books. Very open minded about all kinds of them. From the years of trying to get through the most enigmatic storytelling by Exupery in Citadelle to weekends spent secretly reading guilt-pleasure bible 50 shades of Grey.

My favorite authors probably are Haruki Murakami, Chuck Palahniuk, Milan Kundera (although he despises woman and has no sense of humour, he is still a genious - plus he comes from my city!) or Marquez. I just discovered very funny short stories author Lorrie Moore.

I especially enjoy music made by brave and playful women such as Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, Amanda Palmer or Marina and the Diamonds. They are a true inspiration for me in my everyday life. But recently - I am obsessed with their contradiction - week and submissive - guilt pleasure alert - Lana del Rey. I love to keep up with all the hype around her and how she's the symbol of the decay of America and so.

I always enjoy a bit theatrical and melancholical music that demands my whole attention, just like Muse or Woodkid.

I enjoy reading books about sociology, as well as Jung and other psychological literature. My current bible is truly empowering fairytale-analyzing Woman who ran with the wolfs.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gosh, I feel so pressured by this box. It could be as well called Prove how exciting and adventurous you are! But actually, I'm quite a coward. Therefore, in my context, the fact that I decided to spend two months in Galicia and then travel through Portugal is kind of an Amazing thing done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think I'm most interested in sharing the worldviews, observations and experience with others.

Yeah, and also I'm really happy when I learn about a book, film, series or stuff like that that the other people like and recommend. Not only it's a great way to learn about interesting stuff, it's also fun if you read, watch, listen whatever other person recommend and you're trying to recognize what exactly is it inside this person that makes him or her like this thing in particular.
