ABOUT ME

I'm about 6 years old at heart, with a 50 year old beard and a whole lot of silly stuff.
I've hitch-hiked in Vancouver, bummed around in Argentina, travelled in a few extraordinary places but there is soooooooo much more to see. Isn't that the best news in the world!?!

I quite often (and am quite proud of this) find that life is a bit like a fairy tale. I'm very lucky, and I'm grateful for every bits of it.

Furthermore hence-forthwith (I like funky long meaninglessly decorated words, however inappropriate) I would like to declare (declare = say) that I consider myself the richest man alive. I measure my wealth by the incredible people I have encountered and count as friends. They make life the paradise that it really is.

Also, check out the sunsets in Australia, the canyons in Kalbarri, the floating islands of Andaman coast of Thailand (as in the movie Avataar, except it really exists), the first snow fall in Canada, aurora borealis, constellations at night, the sound of waves crashing on the beach, sitting with your eyes closed, feeling that the Sea is a wonderful mother being slowly breathing.
Yep.
I love my world, and I would love to share it with you. Cuz its nice!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Perhaps my favorite job in the world is hosting a group of international students, professors or visitors, and showing them a way more amazing time they could have ever hoped for. Maybe its because I have met extraordinary hosts in my travels, maybe my parents brought me up this way. Whatever it is, its just a natural, beautiful, amazingly fun thing to do, and I intend to provide the same treatment to couch surfers coming my way.
I figure you'd like to see the best of Perth or Fremantle? Meet the nicest people in the hood? I'm here to help.
But most of all, I just want to be a part of your amazing story.
Isn't it fascinating to meet travelers and get a glimpse of their universe, how they think and feel?
to me, there is no greater pleasure.
besides lots and lots of chocolate.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted a german and asian couple of travellers in my humble abode by the beach. for a week or so. it was lovely!

Received wonderful accommodation in New Zealand (both islands). The people I've met have dramatically changed my trip experience. a WORLD of difference, people!

Hosting experience outside of CS as well, including cooking, taking out to sight see and meet the best people around (subjective, I know, but wait till you meet these people!!!) and whatever else I can possibly do to make your adventures even more amazing.

Space Travel, remembering your dreams and writing them in a dream book (and reading some of them 10 years later!), cooking on a random whim and loving the result, pretending you know where you are going and leading a group of international officials and saying "Yep, its that way! follow me".

Learning new songs on the guitar and singing them to yourself. Learning acrobatic tricks, walking on a slack line till you can't walk straight, juggling with Poi's, rock climbing outdoors with a wonderful group of friends, windsurfing! chilling outside on couches in front of a beautiful sunset with a cold beer, discussing nonsensical sweet sweet nothings.

wearing tutu's to go out in modern society? sorry, but you should be warned. I do that. Its part of a liberating feeling of not caring what others might think of you... try it! if you want to.
Also, for that matter, if you ever feel too much eyes on you on a dance floor, and the pressure is annoying you? try this: loudly and proudly imitate a gobbling Turkey, with loud "GOBBLE GOBBLES!". It frees you like you have no idea. Or a loud chicken. whichever you are most uncomfortable with.

One thing I'm quite proud of, besides cliff jumping from 20 meters high and having my bum hurt for 5 days following, is the time I volunteered for Theatre on short notice...

It was a karaoke bar in Ottawa, this team of desperate looking actors were performing next week, a series of 5 monologues, but one guy dropped off last minute!

I am Francis, I have never performed any acting, much less a monologue, or a 30 minute 10 page monologue, for that matter. Some funny part of me thought "hahahaha, just to see the look on their faces!"
so I said sure, I'll do it.
HAHAHAHAHA. I was NOT disapointed by their stunned wide eyed, speechless faces! priceless.

of course what followed was one of the scariest 3 weeks of my life (11 representations).
But I would LOVE to tell that story face to face.
or upon request, sure.
