About Me

CURRENT MISSION

finding a compromise between travelling, family life and working...

ABOUT ME

Thats a lot, really... to start with, I grew up in Berlin, having had parents who liked to travel, so that influenced me I guess. That was in East Germany by the way so we could only go to Eastern Europe countries. Reunification left me as a poorly orientated teenager and I became a kind of a punk, then gothic, joined the techno movement for a couple of years... At the same time I did civil service in a psychiatry, an apprenticeship in a bank and travelled as far as I could which wasn't too far actually... Later I started studying for teacher and travelled a bit further. Oh yes and all the time I wrote lots of stuff, shorter and longer more or less fictional texts and even managed to get a novel published, the publisher went bankrupt though, not my fault!! Plus I became engaged in the local Berlin Friedrichshain reading and off culture scene, really an insane time.. Still I managed to continue travelling, and by the way became an enthusiastic cyclist, one aspect of my trying to live more or less in balance with nature.. Now I'm a bit out of all of this, but my interest in the main issues remained :). As I studied on & eventually graduated, I could afford longer journeys.. Did I mention having lived in the UK for a year? Well now it's a new stage coming up: fatherhood! Let's see how that influences our travel habits.. Anyways, so far I've kept open minded and deeply interested in the world, and I hope to stay that way!

PHILOSOPHY

i guess it's collecting experiences for inner growth and maturity - and not to lose faith in humanity, people, being philanthrop, something like that

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After having couchsurfed big time I guess it's about giving. I already joined my local CS group and am excited about the things (and surfers) to come ;o)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My girlfriend and me surfed quite a few couches during our Australia journey which was a really rewarding experience. It enabled us to meet locals very intimatly and make some hopefully longlasting friends. So now it's about implementing the CS-world into our lifes in Berlin, which means embarking to a new adventure...
