Association des Chantiers de Jeunesse (ACJ) was founded in 1967. It is a national, non-governmental and non-profit association.
organization that organises volunteering work-camps .
It's principal activities are mainly centered around topics such as working with young people having difficulties at school, the installation of cultural and educational programs,voluntary work to support urban and rural development as well as the protection of environmental and historical heritage.
as most of its members have worked for many years within associations working in volunteering and humanitarian activities; a fact which enabled them to acquire a good experience in mounting and carrying out different types of projects: activities with kids, planting trees and gardening activities in public establishments, environment campaigns, international work camps…..
Through our activities we mean to achieve the following goals:

* Contributing to sustainable development.

* Sensitizing people to the importance of volunteering and solidarity.

* Developing people’s awareness of their duty toward their community

* Contributing to the protection of green areas and environment in general.

* Opening new horizons for kids to develop their skills and personalities.
* Volunteering work-camps are For the youth from all over the globe.
* Creating a cultural exchange that would contribute to better understanding and peace between peoples and nations.

5.To publish human rights culture among the youth.
To promote volunteer activities for young people in their spare time and holidays;

To promote community development and encourage participation of community members in activities for their own benefit;

To create opportunities to exchange experiences between youth from different parts of the country and the rest of the world;

To promote international understanding through voluntary services;

To enable young people to encounter and understand different cultures;

To encourage the concept of voluntary services as a force in search for peace equality, democracy and international understanding.

Activities:

- ACJ organizes international volunteering workcamps open to volunteers from different horizons and cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We welcome anybody who is interested to participate in our voluntary programs regardless of age,. Most of our programs do not require any specific skills. But as the work is development in a in a context of cultural diversity, we expect from you to be:

1. Open Minded

It is essential to be open to new ideas, values and ways of doing things. If you remain “open minded” then you will have new opportunities and new friends. The enlargement of one’s mind is a pre-requisite and the heart of inter-cultural exchange.

2. Flexible

It is essential to be flexible to ideas, people, and situations. While working, you will be dealing in a context of cultural diversity. Taking a flexible approach is often the best way to deal with such situations.

3. Creative

It is essential to be creative because Innovating and adopting a creative approach to your volunteer placement and work maintains motivation and prevents routine. The people with whom you are working with is expecting you to give a new ways and method of work. When you start to think creatively it is amazing what can be achieved.

4. Committed

As we are a voluntary organization committed in bringing international volunteers and local communities together, we understand that sometimes it will be challenging for you to adjust to the local conditions. For this reason, we expect you to realize that this requires a strong commitment towards your program. However, we also feel that by completing your program, you have a lot to gain personally in terms of experience and understanding yourself better.
