My name is Alvin. I am a university grad who is currently working for an International Carrier as a Flight Attendant based in New York. I am also very active with the arts field in Toronto especially dance and photography! I am a dancer myself and this is one of my great passions in life. I teach contemporary dance across Canada.

Working as a flight attendant has its perks. I have the travel bug and I am very passionate meeting new friends, learning new cultures and discovering something new that is outside of my comfort zone. I believe that the best way to grow is experience life outside your comfort zone by testing your boundaries, conquering your fears and living with no regrets.

Currently, I am taking a break from flying to travel and experience the world. I am going to be studying dance in Israel for six months. I am interested in learning conversational hebrew with new friends, perhaps get an introduction about coding/web development and have great and meaningful conversations.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always find comfort in couch crashing. In my house, I mostly stay in the living room and fall asleep on my couch. In these places whether it is my own couch or others, I have experienced the most beautiful conversations with friends, moments of discovery, learning how to break the ice with new friends and even confessional moments with family and friends. The couch becomes more than just a piece of furniture in the living room or an added ornament in the grand scheme of interior design. It becomes a very essential tool for warmth, comfort and gratitude. It is a humbling place to discover the wonders of shelter and comfort.

I am open to all genres. However, what gets to me is innovation and self-produced works such as Zach Braff's "Garden State," Icelandic bands such as Olafur Arnalds, Jonsi, Sigur Ros and "The Fuck-Up" by Arthur Nersesian. Recently I read "Reasons to Stay Alive" by Matt Haig and it was so beautiful to read!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Booked a spontaneous flight to Tel Aviv and figured the rest day by day. From this experience, I have met the most beautiful travellers and the most honest Israeli performers.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH:
From travelling, I want to teach my friends and family the beautiful benefits of taking risks. I want to be able to strongly say that love can be universal, that we can all share it no matter where we come from.

LEARN:
I am eager to learn more about myself, outside of my comfort zone, outside of my academic education and outside of what I know. Far from my real world, I want to learn how to live, how to feel alive and experience life on a different lens through sharing it with others. I want to be fuelled by the inspiration I experience on a daily basis and let it affect my creative work.

SHARE:
I want to share my story to the world. I want to connect with everyone I met and allow myself to open up, to share to the world that I am not alone. I am as lost as everyone else in the world. And I want to simply empower our strength as a collective living in an overwhelming world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my skills as a photographer. I can teach them photoshop tips and tricks, share my photographic album. I can also share my love for dancing by teaching them a thing or two about movement and dance. I give the best (perhaps painful to some lol) massages. I also have aromatherapy oils that helps reduce stress and boost your immune system that I would love to share.
