About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Fight boredom! and live with more uncertainty and less money.

ABOUT ME

i'm 20, vegetarian/freegan, a recent college dropout, a taurus, a lot of things. i went to high school with a lot of future frat boys and sorority girls, then to a hippy dippy college with a lot of activists and art students and wonderfully eccentric people, and then i found myself hanging around a lot of punks. i've learned to get along with all sorts of folks and i find that we've all got something to learn from each other. i'm a big fan of dumpsters. i would love to learn anything you can teach me, whether intellectual or practical (or utterly useless). i'm a bit of a coffee snob (blame three barista jobs), but my connoisseurish snobbery ends there. i like beer and whiskey. i especially enjoy a good bonfire, whether backyard, in the woods, or on a beach. i watched all seven seasons of buffy this past summer and am shameless. i enjoy hitchhiking and would love to find an experienced freight hopper willing to take me under their wing. i have no idea what i want to do with my life, but i suspect that i'll stumble upon it sooner or later, if i haven't already. there are countless places i'd like to travel, and my recently acquired freedom from college will hopefully allow me to start.

PHILOSOPHY

is something that changes all the time

Music, Movies, and Books

i haven't seen too many movies, but i enjoy most and tend to be pretty damn uncritical. so i'm open to suggestions.

as for music, i like a wide variety, but i've a terrible memory for it and don't know the names of half of what's on my own ipod. lately though: jawbreaker, dessa, simon and garfunkel, elliott smith, i would set myself on fire for you, manu chao, 1905, crystal castles, the distillers, johnny hobo, des ark, tom waits, and earth crisis.

books: so so many, and so many more to read. a couple off the top of my head: a heartbreaking work of staggering genius, running with scissors, harry potter (amirite?), ishmael, stuff by murray bookchin, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, stuff by hakim bey (especially the TAZ - temporary autonomous zone), johnny got his gun, the perks of being a wallflower, poisonwood bible, camus' books. also, i like reading theory but my mind's not always cut out for it - sparknotes edition, perhaps?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

drank water directly from a spring.

Teach, Learn, Share

i can try some tasty vegan/vegetarian recipes with you, give you a simple stick n poke tattoo or show you how to give yourself one, show ya how to make designs with the foam on yr latte if you've got a decent espresso machine, maybe go dumpstering with you and then cook a tasty freegan meal together?

things i would currently like to learn (along with just about any random thing you can teach): knitting, stuff about useful herbs, wild edibles, how to train hop without getting myself killed, juggling, basic conversational spanish, maybe if yr a theory nerd you could give me the accessible sparknotes version of foucault and deleuze/guattari. and really, any awesome thing you can teach me, be it practical or totally useless.
