ABOUT ME

I love the outdoors and appreciate beauty in little things - sunsets, wildlife, nature of all sorts - as well as hearing people's stories and learning new things.

PHILOSOPHY

Recently fell in love with John Muir, the naturalist founder of the Sierra Club, for his stories of nature. He speaks of the mountains and trees as if they were his religion and his philosophy resonates deeply.

I try to seize opportunities for new experiences whenever I can and I hope this will lead me to meet people, see the world, and open my mind.

Interests

Slacklining, photography, hiking, swimming - especially in secluded spots, drawing, sleeping in hammocks, good local or ethnic food, a cold beer after a long day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-lay at the base of a waterfall in Ithaca, NY one warm summer night, watching the fireflies and hearing the night
-rope-climbed a giant tree in Costa Rica, 60 ft up on a branch the width of a twin mattress with a whole garden of epiphytes living on it
-visited a preschool in a squatter community in South Africa

Teach, Learn, Share

I consider myself a fairly adequate artist and I love helping people learn how to see and record what they see on paper.

I would love to learn how to both surf and snowboard better than my current beginner-at-best and I always want to improve my photography.
