Overview
About Me
Since 2005, I travel around the world by hitchhiking as a way to document hospitality and trust in my books, blog and social media. 101 countries and territories visited so far!
It all started as a hobby, a break from University but eventualy became my lifestyle and my work.
For the last 18 years I have spent half of my life on the road, going back home to take time off and write. The books try to spread the message that the world is still a great place to live and, at the same time, inspire people to travel with a porpouse.

CURRENT TRIP: visiting Washington DC and Arlington for a conference!
PHILOSOPHY
I have turned 44 and I am at a funny point in my life: I keep travelling by thumb with limited budget and enjoying camping in the wild, not knowing where I am gonna sleep, the uncertainty of the road... but at the same time I indulge into little pleasures. I love contrasts.
One day I am sleeping in a truck and the next one tasting Chianti wine, the most varied the better, the most textured the better, all across the spectrum, wilderness and sushi...
There is, however, one point of tranquility and absolute pleasure, and that is my library,. I love just sitting down in my desk and contemplate my collection of old travel books, maps and stamps. That's where new travel ideas are crafted, and hence the start of a new cycle.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I deeply believe in human connection, either web or offline generated.
Interests
Travel. Literature. History. Old books. Stamps. Maps. I am quite nerd about this things and love people being nerd about their staff, no matter it's bird-watching or astrophysics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As a part of my project, on 2005-7, I hitchhiked from Ireland to Thailand, crossing Syria, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan on the way. It was a touching experience that strenghtened my faith in mankind and led to my first book. So that trip changed my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
What could I teach? Have you ever try hitch-hiking (HH)? Have you ever thought that this may be the way to see the world that you have always been waiting? a way without schedules, structures, absolutely free, enviromentally friendly, fast and flexible? I always arrive to my hosts citties by HH, and leave by HH. You are free to come with me to some nearby destination, so you can get a feel of the road.
