About Me

I am in my late thirties, and my wife is in her early thirties. We are from the lovely city of Assen, The Netherlands. I am currently working for UWV as Customer Advisor. UWV helps people who are out of work or unable to work. We do this by providing benefits and by getting people back into work. I am also a council member for a green political party in the municipality of Assen (GroenLinks Assen). My wife works as a team manager for the national railroad (NS).

We live a 2-minute walk from the Assen Trainstation. I have a son, Jayden, born in April 2016 (not Anna's). Together, we have a dog, Roos (Labrador, guidedog since 2015), two cats, Montgomery and Churchill, and in our stables in Ruinen (30km outside Assen), we have three horses. Additionally, we host three horses at our horseshelter.

We love hiking through the beautiful nature of this province of Drenthe, and we also enjoy traveling (CityTripping), cooking, theater, and more. The public transportation hub is situated at the train station, as I mentioned before, just a 2-minute walk away.

I am politically left-winged and advocate to stop climate change and animal rights. We follow a vegetarian/vegan diet, and upon request, we can both prepare vegan dishes if you are fully vegan. I accept all requests from people around the world, especially CS'ers with references and verified users in the CS Community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd love to host and meet people from different countries around the world. I have a guest room for up to 2 people. I used to travel a lot myself and stayed at different places in people's homes. It is a nice way to learn about people, their habits, and local culture. It's much better than being a regular tourist and going to commercial tourist hotspots (annoying and too crowded!).

I've already hosted quite a lot of interesting people from around the world. I really enjoy meeting up with people from different parts of the world and learning about their way of life. Many of them I still have contact with through Facebook, WhatsApp, or any other means. I don't travel as much as I used to, but why should I? I can connect with people from around the world right in my home :)
