CURRENT MISSION

I would like to experience, and pass on the experience of the interconnectedness of human beings. The common thread that runs through us all inspires me to want to experience and give the experience of kindness and hospitality, to relate with 'strangers'.

ABOUT ME

I'm quite an eclectic mix. I'm not really a social butterfly, nor am I a wallflower. I'm actually kind of socially awkward! Go figure! I get along with anybody, really. I try to keep judgment out of the picture in my everyday life. I like talking about the things most people don't bother talking about.. the weird quirky things that you've always wondered but never thought that anyone else would be interested in. I think I'm a fairly good listener, though I can enjoy somewhat heated, friendly debate/discussion. I love open minded people who don't really tie themselves down to one thing or another to define themselves. I don't think a word, a thing, or a situation, should define who you are. I value realistic optimism, spontaneity and honesty. I also have a really strange sense of humor. I crack up at talking dogs on youtube and old people falling down. I also have an intense imagination and really vivid dreams that could probably be classified as psychedelic soap operas. Two really big turn-offs for me are pretentiousness and horrible grammar/punctuation.. so, bidders beware!

Favorite books?.. more like excerpts and chapters from here and there! I can't ever seem to get through books fully. Books that I've actually finished include: Hey Nostradamus, Anne of Green Gables, Conversations with God, [Do, Be, and Faith trilogy], The Davinci Code, J-Pod, Dharma Punx, Hardcore Zen, The Bodacious Book of Succulence, The Red Book, Steal This Book, Prayers of a Non-Believer, The trilogy of Griffin And Sabine, A Man Without A Country, Along the Road, How to be Idle, anything by Keri Smith.. which just about concludes this list.

This trend continues the subject of movies.. my parents didn't force me to read for fun and I never really watched many movies as a child,.. so I haven't seen a lot of the movies that you probably consider 'classics'.. such as the Star Wars movies (some people will probably stop reading here.), the Lady and the Tramp, the Jungle Book, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter,.. all that 'good stuff'.. I've never seen. This also means that I have no idea who a lot of famous actors are. I'm slowly seeing more movies and learning more faces, but I have a long long way to go. Some more current movies that I've seen and really enjoyed are Swing Kids, all of Michael Moore's movies (however accurate they may or may not be), Pan's Labyrinth, The Anchorman, It's Pat, Dogma, Meet Joe Black, American History X.. it's a limited selection.

To make up for this lack, I do own the chronicles of Donald Duck. Those who can appreciate the humor in those are my best friends already.

As for music, I'm pretty open-minded. I have a soft spot for music from the 40ies and 50ies though. I love swing and jazz music. I also like Folk, Punk, Country, Celtic,.. really anything.

And food.. Don't even get me started. I'll eat almost anything.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life for living. Or at least I like to think so, or try to think so. The way our society is built, makes it very difficult for most to live their lives for living, as I'm sure most of you can feel too.

In short, I'm doing what I can, when I can, really.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have been cliff jumping, and I swam in a few waterfalls (It was on my bucket list to swim in ONE waterfall before I died, but I got to swim in about 5 or 6 in the Philippines.. I can die happy now, I think!)
I've been teary-eyed over the kindness, compassion and humility of human beings.

I dabble in guitar and ukulele, I dare to make art, I know how to make jewelry out of yarn, string, hemp, anything like that, I know how to listen and offer advice if desired, I know some great card games, but I am always looking to learn more, I know a few riddles...

I'd like to learn how to play music proficiently, I'd like to learn a new sport, I'd like to learn a few more riddles that I can internalize and keep in my mental repertoire (for those socially awkward situations..)
I'd like to learn what makes other people tick, I'd like to learn what people do in their spare time, the things that they wouldn't really vocalize for any reason because nobody has ever expressed interest.. (like, your morning rituals, a certain way you hold your pen and why, what that scar is from on your right arm.. etc.)
