About Me

I'm a student of electrical engineering, unprofessional musician, book reader, casual sportsman and occasional cook of vegetarian food. Oh and now... I'm also a traveler.

我會說一點中文,可是我的英文更好。

During my youth I've never traveled much. With my family we made local trips in my homeland Czech Republic but world outside country borders was unknown to me.
That changed when my friend invited me to trip to Ukraine for few days. It opened a new chapter of my life and.... half a year later I was hitchhiking from Prague to Amsterdam to catch a plane to Cuba.
Since then I learned it's not just sightseeing what it means to travel. It's mostly meeting new people and learning from them anyway possible.

That's why in the year of 2018 I lived on the other side of the world in Hsinchu, Taiwan where I studied on Chung Hua University for little over four months. I fell in love with hitchhiking there, visited a rainbow gathering and learned not to plan too much and be more spontaneous. Maybe that's why I've bought one-gear bicycle in Hanoi and crossed half of Vietnam on it before returning home to the heart of Europe.

Right now I'm part of small team that focuses on developing a platform for e-bike sharing. Maybe I'll be able to provide some motorized bicycles to my fellow travelers in the future. I'm not busy all the time tho. Feel free to write me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a way for me to step out from my introvert comfort zone and be rewarded with experiences, meeting new people, improving language and creating memories.

As you can notice I do not have many references because I did not use CS myself before traveling to Asia (which is also the reason why I haven't hosted other people yet, though I plan to do so when I get my own place in Prague). But I'm very familiar with this network, because of my friends who host people in Prague. I sometimes join them to show the city to the visitors or have a conversation about the world outside of Czech borders. Some of those people actually became good friends of mine.

Music, Movies, and Books

In last few years, list of music genres I like expanded pretty widely. It's not just rock music anymore. I like Classical music, rock'n'roll, electronic, rap, jazz, blues and what I love the most is some combination of previously mentioned in some unique and unheard way.
I do have a profile on last.fm so if you are music person, you can check what i listen to in there:

I'm trying to read as much as possible, although classical literature and I do not work together very well. My most favorite book is most likely Mockingbird by Walter Tevis. A pretty unknown sci-fi novel about rediscovering of what's means to be a human in a robotized world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I stepped again on skateboard after breaking my knee on it.

Teach, Learn, Share

When traveling, there's an ukulele in my backpack almost every time. So if you want to, I can show you how to play some ukulele chords or I can accompany you while you are playing instruments of your own. I'm also a fan of new technologies which is the reason why I chose to study electrical engineering. Namely wireless technologies and the physics behind this magic so if you want to know something about that, I can explain something from that area. On the other hand, when I travel I do it most likely to escape hectic world of modern technology. So... Let's do the ukulele chords instead :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm not much of a talker. Well better would be to say, I wasn't much of a talker. Traveling helps not to be that shy. Still.. if host like to talk I'll probably listen more than interrupt. But if a guitar, ukulele or any kind of musical instrument is around, it will definitely end up in my hands.
