About Me

I am 20 years old and grew up in Santa Monica, California. Currently I am attending UC Berkeley where I am studying economics. I grew up in Los Angeles (Santa Monica) and spent all my summers surfing in Pavones, Costa Rica, a small beach town on the southern pacific side of the country. I just joined Couch Surf so I don't have any references but I promise that you won't be disappointed!

In Berkeley I live in a student Co-op, a 60 person house run by students. I am a head chef, so I cook for the entire house 1 night a week. Other interests of mine include literature, film, surfing, skiing, traveling, soccer and cooking. My favorite authors are Vonnegut and Salman Rushdie. My favorite directors are Stanley Kubrick, Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino. I have lived in Italy, Costa Rica, and traveled around many countries in Europe. Other travels of mine include surf trips to nicaragua and mexico, as well as a two month backpacking trip during the summer of 2012.

When I was 15 I lived in Italy for 6 months with a host family. By the end of my experience I was able to grasp the meaning of hospitality and cultural exchange. I loved my experience living with a host family's. I believe that it is one thing to travel to another country as an outsider, however it is a completely separate experience to stay with local people while there . Living as locals do and being full immersed in the another culture is one of the most exciting and interesting aspects of traveling. I would hope that by traveling through couch surf this I would be exposed to the characteristics of a place that I would never have been able to see through the lens of a tourist. Also, it is an incredible way to share culture and experiences and meet interesting people around the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In 2015 I will be living in Copenhagen to study at the University of Copenhagen for 6 months. I arrive the 30th of December and need a place to crash for a little until my housing contract starts. Unfortunately the university and housing foundation do not begin on the same dates so I am stranded for my first two weeks of school. I think it would be really fun to get to Copenhagen and stay with local people.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very interested in learning about Danish Culture. Particularly, I am coming to study the Danish social system and government policy. I want to learn about design, sustainability, and cuisine in Denmark as well! It would be great exchange different international perspectives on these issues. If not politically active I love talking about film, books, traveling, soccer... anything along those lines.
