Overview
About Me
I am a dual citizen of Australia and the United States. My parents are college professors, so I've been a nerd as long as I've been alive. I spent my childhood in Geelong, Australia, but moved to the North Georgia woods as a teenager. I've fluted around the world, and spent my gap year backpacking Australia. I've been a salesman, a doorknocker, a sheep hand, and a drifting street musician. But now I'm lucky enough to be learning Music, Anthropology, and International Storytelling at Goucher College.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been hard up many times, and now that I have a place to sleep its important to me to help out fellow travelers. Also, I just love hanging with fellow travelers. Y'all's company is probably what I miss the most about being on the road. I'd also like to meet cool people on the road and sleep cheap. A student's budget doesn't stretch far. Besides, If y'all hang out at Goucher, it'll be an education for the folks on my hall. Everyone has so much to learn from everyone else.

Music, Movies, and Books
Terry Pratchett, the funniest philosopher. Neil Gaiman, Jhumpa Lahiri.
Zenzele, The Magic Pudding, The Phantom Tollbooth.
Jethro Tull, Warren Zevon, Ladysmith Black Mombazo, Stan Rogers, Greg Strong, John Butler, Hans Zimmer, Alabama, Thomas Bergersen, Greg Pattillo, Robert Johnson, Naplegenda, Kind of Blue, and any new vocal techniques. The mongols really have something great going on with Throat Singing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On impulse and the advice of a drunk homeless man, I left a job and stable housing and took a bus to the outback town of Lightning Ridge, where I tried to get rich finding opals. Needless to say, I didn't succeed.
Teach, Learn, Share
Coming from a family of professors, I love to teach and learn.
I always love to teach and learn new things, but my favorite subjects are Cooking and Music. I grew up in a house with many immigrants from different places, and we always used to say that we weren't guests, but family, because we taught each other to appreciate and cook each other's food. And there is simply nothing better than two friends blowing each other's mind away with each other's music.
My friend Norm invented the tunable didgeridoo, which I can teach you to play if you'd like.
I love to hear stories of travels, so talk away!
I used to tutor in Writing, History, and Physics, so I'm happy to help with the kid's homework.
I've spent most of my life little ones around, so I'm good with kids. I've changed a diapers of babies, read toddlers to sleep and taken kids from five to fourteen on outings. If that's how I can help or share, I'd love to.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to COOK my specialty is Southern Soul food, but I also prepare West African, Ethiopian, South Indian, and Old English cuisines. I've served friends three-course dinners from the leftovers in a hostel kitchen. If I can repay you that way, it would be my honour. I also love music, and am always up for jamming, or anything really. I don't have a whole lot of stuff, but if you want I can haul over some books, music, or flint knives to give you. As Danny once said, "most importantly, Adam does the rudy washing up!"
