Overview
About Me
53 countries and counting.
Been living in Portland, Maine for the last year. Unreal city if you've never been.
Following the words of Yvon Chouinard, I consider myself an 80% man. “I've always thought of myself as an 80 percenter. I like to throw myself passionately into a sport or activity until I reach about an 80 percent proficiency level. To go beyond that requires an obsession that doesn't appeal to me. Once I reach 80 percent level I like to go off and do something totally different..." (Let My People Go Surfing - Awesome book).
I'm an avid skier, surfer, sailor, chef, hiker, fisher, camper, spear fisher, free diver and many other activities I actively pursue to about an 80% effort level. If I had to pick one, surfing takes the crown as my most dedicated and loved passion. Surfing has been the backbone and reasoning for a handful of my travels (Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Indonesia, Puerto Rico and the NJ Shore).
In general, people find me very laid back and out going. I enjoy small talk over a beer, hanging with friends playing music, bars with live music and, every now and then, a good old fashion party! I tend to avoid clubs - not my scene. I'll take a PBR in a dive bar with a one man band singing Hotel California any day of the week!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Always fun to meet a few locals during any trip! I would never expect to understand a new city, or know the hidden gems better than someone who's been seeking them for years. So why compete? I am on a road trip from Florida to Philly, looking for a room!
Interests
Sailing, surfing, scuba diving, skiing, wake boarding, mountain biking, hiking, camping, fishing... anything out doors. Traveling of course.
I am bigggg into cooking. Love coming up with new dishes and cooking for large groups. I'll make us dinner one night in exchange for the couch! haha

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sailed from New Zealand to Fiji in May 2014. Took 8.5 days - saw whales, dolphins, high seas and glassy conditions. Caught and ate more fish than I can remember. This experience led me to become the sole chef/deckhand on a charter catamaran in Mykonos, Greece for 3 months during the summer of 2014.
Teach, Learn, Share
Have taught surfing, cooking, fishing, free diving and sailing. (none professionally, but to friends around the world).
Enjoy teaching and sharing any experience involving food. Mostly, that means cooking for people (and helping them learn how if they're interested). But I also enjoy exploring a city in the hunt for unique local dishes.
Willing to try anything once! I'm in the midst of learning guitar, so if you want to jam (or let me try to keep up), it's always a good time!
Sharing stories, music and experiences - preferably over a beer.
