关于我
CURRENT MISSION
To decide on a new city to live in. Trying to decide between San Francisco CA, Seattle WA, Portland OR, Boulder CO, and New York City NY by spending a few weeks living in each city.
ABOUT ME
Born in Perth, Australia. Grew up in the suburbs. Went to university. Fell into a US startup. Moved to Melbourne, Australia. Dabbled in more startups, tech, and sabbaticals. Now starting the next chapter of my life in the USA.
In a nutshell, the things that are important to me are health/fitness, running, minimalism, sustainability, eco/green living, cycling, enjoying the outdoors, inventing/building, and living harmoniously in nature.
One of my life goals is to start a tiny house eco-village to assist people in living a low-impact, build it yourself, off-grid lifestyle.
I'm a bit of a introvert, but definitely not shy. I enjoy listening, meeting new people, and learning new things. You can find me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/adam.b.neumann
PHILOSOPHY
- Be more than a tourist; be a traveller.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am new to Couch Surfing, and want to use it as a way to meet people who love their city enough to want to host couch surfers. What better way to learn about a place that by living with friendly locals.
Once I'm all settled again, I'm really keen to start hosting and share what I know about the location (and life in general).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Excited about starting this experience :)

Fitness and exercise is very important to me. It's a new thing though; I didn't enjoy P.E./gym class at school and faked injuries to get out of it. Now, I exercise daily, either running, swimming, or yoga. I also prefer cycling as a mode of transport (burn fat not oil!). My favourite kinds of running are ultra-marathon and ultra-endurance, as they require a tough mental/emotional component as well as a physical component. One day I plan to run across Europe (from Swansea in Wales to Athens in Greece) and want to run the NYC marathon when I'm 80 years old.
Whilst on a sabbatical in Melbourne, I started experimenting with diet & lifestyle, which ultimately led me to become vegan. It combines may things I value greatly: sustainability of food production, animal welfare, heath and medicine, and environmental destruction. But please don't let the label 'vegan' intimidate you, I'm very non-confrontational by nature and don't force my beliefs on others. I prefer to lead by example, and perform plant-powered feats of endurance that as an omnivore/carnivore thought were impossible.
I'm quite big on food. I love shopping for fresh ingredients at farmers markets, food co-ops, and international supermarkets. Nothing beats finding some random exotic delicacy from a far off land. I really enjoying cooking for people, and have been getting into raw food and raw desserts lately. Two stand out examples would be a raw banana ice cream sandwich with vanilla cashew dipping cream, and a cultured cashew feta. I also like sprouting (lentils mainly, also quinoa some times) and am getting more into fermenting and home made kombucha.
Other interests include: Board games (Catan), tiny houses, worm farms / composting, aeroponics

音乐、电影和书籍
MUSIC
An eclectic mix of dubstep, emo rock and folk. I match music to mood; a sort of feng shui for the ears if you will. My favourite artists are Yellowcard, Motion City Soundtrack, Knife Party, Zomboy, and Linkin Park. Favourite sounds include Kill - Jimmy Eat World, Honey and the Moon - Joseph Arthur, and Bonfire - Knife Party.
BOOKS
I'm always reading a few books at the same time. Mainly non-fiction and self-improvement books. Right now the mix includes:
- The Story of the Human Body: Evolution, Health, and Disease by Daniel Lieberman
- Lucid Dreaming: A Beginner's Guide to Becoming Conscious in Your Dreams by Charlie Morley
- The Starch Solution: Eat the Foods You Love, Regain Your Health, and Lose the Weight for Good! by John Mcdougall
MOVIES
A sucker for action and rom coms. Also enjoy documentary films. My favourite films include The Matrix, Inception, Forrest Gump, and The Shawshank Redemption.
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
Ran & walked 92km over 20 hours in a charity "team relay" event to benefit cancer patients. A friend's father had recently been diagnosed, so I ran for him.
I entered the race with only a few weeks to train, and only a couple of weeks after having wisdom teeth surgery. Prep and training was rushed. My food plan consisted of maple syrup, bananas, and (second attempt) protein balls that were over cooked.
The day after the event I knew I was in love with running.
教,学,和分享
Being a bit of a geek, I'm really handy at fixing computers/wifi/phones/tablets, and more generally with maths and analytical thinking.
I'd also love to share and learn about nutrition, cooking, and healthy eating. If you are curious about kombucha, I can teach you how to grow a SCOBY from scratch :)
