Overview
About Me
Born in the mountains of Colorado, raised in Chicago. I make a living designing special computer chips to help physicists search for dark matter and other weirder things.
I love improvised theater, and I’m a big believer in the power of play and imagination. I started a program in my hometown to provide free / low-cost opportunities for people to learn improv and perform on stage. Check us out here: www.oakparkimprov.com
When all that doesn’t keep me busy, I love bouldering, reading books, and swing dancing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A few awesome friends convinced me to give it a try 😊
I love exploring – studying abroad in Beijing was a formative experience for me, and I’ll always jump at the chance to try to experience a place/culture that’s different from how I grew up. I’m inspired by the open-minded, generous vibe of Couch Surfing, and I hope to be able to contribute to it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Studying abroad at Tsinghua University, I decided to enroll in 电磁场与波 – Electromagnetic Waves and Fields – instructed in Mandarin. I learned quickly that this was pretty foolhardy: this was a challenging class for even my Chinese classmates, and with my intermediate grasp of the language, it was brutal. After failing the midterm, I scraped out a “B” by the end of the semester which I’m far more proud of than any “A” I ever got in the States.
Teach, Learn, Share
Want to know how to build a computer starting from metal and glass, or why physicists are so interested in neutrinos these days? I also enjoy nerding out about improv and theater.
I love learning little facts that change the way I see the world, even in a small way. 三人行,必有我师!
