I like surfing. Because of this, I have worked doing ocean research in one form or another for 15 years now, all starting because I wanted to access the waves at an army research facility and figure out how the sand moves to make wave breaks and why. After collecting specimens, deploying instruments, and looking at massive data sets, I now pilot small experimental submarines to go look at shipwrecks, oil rigs, sharks, and whatever else the boss wants us to look at.

I also like to draw wacky comics, see how much beer I can drink and still ride a bike, have pallet fires, and sing the hell out some karaoke.

Ah, skateboards, beer, and chess too. Sometimes altogether.
