About Me

***UPDATED: 20200428

So it's been another 5 years since I've been back here. I'll be on a lot more frequently due to some changes in my personal life. Just to be clear my wife would never approve of allowing "strangers" to stay with us. She's moved out and I can get back to being an active member of this community! Funny, I currently don't own a couch (Yep, you guess it, she took that when she moved out.) Anyway, no need to worry- I don't need any cheering up or anything like that... our marriage was one of convenience and should NOT have happened in the first place. It was a bad thing. The divorce is- the end of- a bad thing. The end of a bad thing, is a good thing. So if you're in my area and need a place to crash... hit me up! I should say I cannot guarantee I'll be available but you won't know if i you don't ask! I look forward to meeting all of you soon!

Wow a lot has changed since I last was able to log on to this site. I've been busy with life and what not but I'm glad to finally be at a place where I can get back into the awesome CouchSurfing community.

PHILOSOPHY

I've sort of adopted the following quotes and excerpts as what I like to call Anthems of Adam...

"There is no knowledge that is not power."

"Nothing positive was ever gained without a risk factor."

"If it isn't broke, don't fix it."

"It only hurts for a little while."

"If you don't live for something- you will die for nothing."

"You see,
it's NOT the blood you SPILL that gets you what you want.
It's the blood you SHARE!
Your FAMILY- Your FRIENDSHIPS- Your COMMUNITY!
These are the most VALUABLE things a man can have!"

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - Comedies & Horror are definitely my favorite. Actually, I also enjoy watching kids movies like Finding Nemo, Happy Feet, etc. Lion King still is one of my all time favorites. Maybe that comes from having a child? I don't know... I use that as an excuse but I think I'm just still a kid at heart. I also am not afraid to admit I enjoy watching "chick flicks" (with a girl anyway).

Music - Country, Classic and Southern Rock are my favorites. I went through many phases while I was growing up and I think I've taken a little piece of all those phases with me. I still like punk rock, 2pac, Will Smith, Insane Clown Posse, Vanilla Ice (Old AND Newer stuff). I don't typically agree with a lot of Marshall Mathers' (Eminem/Slim Shady) personal views on life, but I will admit he is one heck of a lyricist. I like GWAR. Pantera, AC/DC, Lynard Skynard, Bloodhound Gang, Green Day... the list goes on and on and on. I even gave Hatebreed a chance, despite their name. I find their music to be powerful and somewhat uplifting/self-empowering. Great for those times when you need a little motivation. I think the only types I'm not really into is Techno/Trance. Oh and dubstep? I'm not sure what that even is. As you can tell though, I have a very diverse taste in music. It all depends on the mood.

Books? lol. I'll admit I don't really read books. The last book I read I think was in 2004, while I was in Iraq. It was Mystic River. Great book. I just usually have other things going on and find other ways to relax. Also, reading makes me extremely tired really fast. I get through MAYBE a chapter before I pass out. If I'm lucky. If that's your thing though, more power to you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time while I was on patrol in Iraq, a little boy came running up to me and my soldiers. He wasn't a threat to us, he just wanted some candy, and whatever else he could get. Our patrol was to establish our presence in the area by handing out things like candy and hygiene products. After giving him and his friends some candy we also gave them some hygiene products to take home with them. However, this little boy had no idea what some of these products were used for. He thought it was something to eat and he took the biggest bite out of a deoderant stick I have ever witnessed. So we felt bad and kind of demonstrated charades-style what to do with it. I guess the act itself wasn't that amazing, but the realization that there are some cultures in the world that are that far behind is extremely amazing.
