About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Adventure: see the world, learn from others, have fun!

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Adam. As you can probably tell, I am proud of my Scottish Heritage. I'm currently a medical student at the U of Sask, and I a member of Mensa.

I am not working right now as school work consumes most of my time. However, I have had many different jobs over the years, most notably building farm machinery, Army Reserves, and working in group homes.

I am an INTJ personality with some highlights of an INTP (Myers-Brigg/Socionics psychology theories).

PHILOSOPHY

What benefits the most people, helps those who are in need, harms as few people as possible, and makes the world a better place, that is what I try to practice.

"For me, I am driven by two main philosophies: know more today about the world than I knew yesterday and lessen the suffering of others. You'd be surprised how far that gets you."
-Neil deGrasse Tyson

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm hoping to do some traveling in the next few years, and I'm willing to host people if I'm not too crazy busy with school.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm still new to this, but a few friends have recommended it.

Interests

I have a great love for the sciences. I also enjoy designing and building things. I always have a few ideas/projects I would like to try that range from social ideas to things I want to build. I like to read lots of books and articles too. I just don't seem to find much time for it with school.

I'm a pretty good cook, or so people tell me, and I enjoy cooking (mostly from scratch). In fact people tell me I should look at becoming a chef. If I had room to grow a garden I would. I guess my unusual and assorted collection of plants will have to suffice for now.

I enjoy being outdoors doing things like camping, hiking, biking, skiing, or going for walks. I grew up on a farm, so I take what chances I can get to get out of the city and be able to see the horizon all around. I went skydiving a couple summers back, and have considered taking up the sport. I also ride a motorcycle (I have a 2002 Suzuki SV650S). I enjoy the relaxation that come from being outdoors at any time of the year.

I can't stand watching most sports on TV as I find it very boring; I would rather go play the sports. I do a bit of wall climbing too.

I'm not a big fan of dance clubs, and I don't like really loud music. In fact I don't like loud noises period. I don't mind a nice quiet pub or a tavern though were people can talk.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read (two bookshelves full and growing), learn, and experience life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few summers back, I was out on a lake in Northern Saskatchewan. The sun was setting, the lake was calm, and we were boating back to the town after an evening of fishing. The way the fading light reflected off the smooth, calm ripples was mesmerizing.

When I was a kid, we went to Writing on Stone Provincial Park in Southern Alberta. After hours of driving across the wide-open prairies, we came into a valley and there were hoodoos as far as the eye could see. It was a spectacular sight that took my breath away.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to describe myself as intellectual, and have knowledge on many things, but I'd like to learn from you and share what I can.
