About Me

I'm an Aussie who is meandering around Turkey atm - have enjoyed visiting unique places which pepper the annals of history, and give tangibility to the old classical myths and legends.
I play a mixture of instruments with varying degrees of success (guitar, mandolin, keyboard, some flute). Music is fun.
I want to meet people, see and experience novel aspects of this curious planet :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel is a strangely wonderful experience - I'm fascinated by this diverse world and the characters in it, enjoy bantering with, learning from and trading stories with the people I meet. Often I spend much of my time asking other people questions, so I'm keen to meet inquisitive observers - so please nudge me if I don't talk about myself.

Before I joined CS.com I have done a bit of informal couch surfing in the past - and it's been fascinating.
I look forward to meeting many couchsurfers around the world for drinks, food and great conversation!

“We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next to find ourselves. We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again- to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more.” - Pico Lyer

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was born in a time of accelerating change - have watched the blurring thrust of technology morph before my eyes as it fooms past - I stare into the glistening event horizon, a cacophony of possibility birthing new ever-increasingly sophisticated gadgets, new medicine, new solutions to great problems, new human possibility, new life, and wonder what is to come.
I have organised a few conferences on science, technology & the future. Have dabbled in grass roots journalism, and interviewed some of the smartest visionaries on the planet - so if you are curious, check out the results:

I used to work for Lonely Planet! Not as glorious as it sounds - I worked as a database adminstrator/programmer - and saw the wonders of the world through glossy posters and guidebooks scattered about the workplace.

Teach, Learn, Share

My life & experience - I have run a variety of gauntlets in my time - happy to share the ups and downs. If you are interested in sharing yours, then why not?!
I'd like to learn how to play more instruments, and possibly jam with other musicians.
I am happy to discuss a lot of things, but I find myself gravitating towards philosophy, artificial intelligence, the future of life in the universe, and cats.
I enjoy hiking, visiting art galleries & museums, exploring urban culture!!
