About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To give and get as much from life as I can. We only live once on this crazy rock in space.

ABOUT ME

I have been a student of life for as long as I can remember. I love to meet people who live life fully and want to understand it better. I feel at home wherever I meet kind and loving people.

I have celiac's disease which means I can't eat wheat or anything with wheat in it. I've actually got a couple of allergies so I tend to eat vegan when I can.
Fortunately I have become a good cook because of this and I love making meals for 10 or 20 people at a time. I will gladly cook for your friends and family if I am staying with you.

I taught youth martial arts for over a decade and those kids taught me so much about life and preconceptions. Being a teacher was one of the best experiences of my life and I hope to have the opportunity to do it again in the future.

I studied the phenomenon of colonialism that swept over the world for the past 500 years and hasn't yet stopped. This has inspired a lot of travel as well as a huge change in my attitude to the rest of the world. In fact, I'm currently working to help people and villages to become sustainable and self-sufficient. I would like to make it possible for more people to follow their passions as opposed to being wage slaves to the capital marketplace.

Over all I enjoy seeing new things, meeting new people and stopping to enjoy the beauty of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Be here now. Apppreciate each moment. Act from love. Know that all things pass eventually.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I traveled for six months using this site throughout Mexico and Central America. All of the people I met have become friends and I feel so lucky for having the opportunity to meet them.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have now stayed with many hosts while traveling in Mexico and Central America. These experiences have been so amazing! Not only have I met people I hope to know the rest of my life but I have had a chance to do and see things here that I never would have otherwise. I tell everyone I meet now that they should be a host or surfer, or both, with CS.

Interests

History, especially stuff that relates to how the current world came to be. I love to read anything that helps me understand the human condition and better empathize with others. Music is always wonderful and I love to hear new and amazing things all of the time. I love learning new things like guitar and dance.
I like so many kinds of food: Indian, Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese. Spicy and full of flavor is best.

I love to read and write. Sharing stories is a huge passion of mine. Learning about other people through their stories and experiences is such a wonderful thing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once drove off into the countryside in the far northwest of Thailand near the burmese border. After hours of driving I realized it was getting dark and I would need a place to stay to avoid the oncoming monsoon. I noticed a village tucked into the hill and drove past it. I met a man on the road and stopped to talk with him. We struck up a halting conversation in Thai and English. Soon I found myself the guest of the whole village. It was such a wonderful realization that our best friends could be right around the corner of 10,000 miles away. I think of this wherever I go now.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have been a childrens teacher for a decade and I love to work with them. I also enjoy helping others understand how to interact with them as well.
I love history and I am always happy to share my knowledge as well as learn from others. I love to understand how we came to live in the world we do now. What sort of prejudices and preconceptions we have that no longer apply.
I want to learn to dance Tango and Salsa.
I have been playing guitar for a year now and love to practice with others.
