About Me

ABOUT ME

Friendly, social, enjoy the outdoors and learning about other cultures. Happy to help out around the house, etc. while being hosted. I like to find purpose in my visits to new places and part of that is returning the generosity offered by others. Connecting with our environments and helping communities through volunteerism have been principles I've found most rewarding in my life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new people and learning about their world experiences. I'm also traveling on a budget, and the generosity of Couchsurfers allows me to continue the traveler's lifestyle.

Since leaving the financial field, I find myself valuing experiences over material gain. This also includes high value in the relationships and friendships along the way!

Interests

Lead a hiking group, volunteer at local soup kitchens and nursing homes and campaign for local politicians.

Music, Movies, and Books

80's, 90's alternative & rock

Hunger Games series

Been interested recently in books on political philosophy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (2,185 miles) from Georgia to Maine. I left my job for a life of exploration and it has been life changing. It took 5 months and made me realize how, in contrast to what we frequently see on the news, people are kind, generous and very giving of themselves.

It also gave me the confidence to continue the traveler's lifestyle for this chapter of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy academia and engaging in conversation on people's careers and interests.

I've tutored mathematics at high school and college levels for over 10 years.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A positive attitude, willingness to help out and good conversation. I hope that one day I will be able to host the people that have hosted me.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Virgin Islands, U.S.
