About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To become more geeky, creative, and open-minded
ABOUT ME
I've been fantasy prone all my life, from reading science fiction and fantasy novels to playing table-top roleplaying games - but I recently decided that living inside my own head is not the way to go. I love being goofy and trying new things. Geek and nerd culture is my primary comfort zone, and can easily get along with anyone who has a love of anything in the wide spectrum of creative sub-cultures within television, music, novels, film, comic books, theater, or gaming. I adore nature (from city parks to true wilderness), dancing (from hitting night clubs to spinning around a ballroom), and technology (primarily Apple computers, but I love it all).
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that hate is idiotic. I strive to eliminate, as much as possible, malice from my life. I don't believe in being trapped in situations, that there is always a way out and that fear truly is the mind-killer. Love is the most important aspect of existence, and I mean that in far more than the romantic sense - a life without close friends and family (not necessarily blood kin) is not really living.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have never participated in couch-surfing, but have heard wonderful things and would love to become a part of the community.
Interests
While my primary passion is fantasy role-playing (Dungeons and Dragons, for instance), I truly enjoy a wide spectrum of activities. Most of them are geeky or imagination based, but I've found myself drawn more into the real world as of late. I appreciate playing board and card games with people, anything from checkers to 6 hour war-strategy games. I love being active, especially bicycling, walking and hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books
There are many I enjoy, but three examples from each category...
Movies: Stardust, The Princess Bride, The Fifth Element
Music: Amanda Palmer/The Dresden Dolls, Abney Park, the Beatles
Books: Anything Neil Gaiman, The Sword of Truth series, the Song of Ice and Fire series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I explored a temperate rain forest in Washington state in the USA, within Olympic National Park. That is one of my favorite experiences that I did three times during my early schooling.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am very technologically literate with computers and related hardware. I specialize in Macintosh computers, but I am quite competent with computers running Windows and even a bit with Linux and other UNIX based operating systems. I have familiarity with hardware (better at swapping out equipment then building a computer from scratch), but primarily I deal with the software side of things. I'd love to learn something musical - singing, piano playing, or a type of dancing. Learning a craft of some sort, such as wood-working, would be wonderful as well.
