I am an artist, and have been making my way in the world through painting and writing since I left school. For the last ten years, I have been a freelance artist and digital painter, creating concept art for film, illustrating book and record covers, painting Magic cards and D&D Illustrations, and working on commissioned oil paintings. I have found a way to continue travelling and living abroad while working, and using those 'dislocated' experiences to shape the direction of the work. This year, turning thirty, I have taken a sabbatical from commercial illustration to devote my time to long-standing personal projects, and to develop my business, Legendeer - an organisation dedicated to embedding artists back into the world (legendeer.org). I am setting out to test the ways that artists can use their craft to more deeply engage with, and affect, the world around them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Throughout the last ten years of travel and freelancing, I have never couchsurfed. I want to test it out, and see for myself what kind of dynamics emerge between travellers and hosts. As an artist, my entire practise revolves around meeting people, sharing stories, and creating artwork in response to those experiences. Above all, I want to *include* other people in the process, translate their stories into images, share inspiration and give back whatever I can in the form of art, drawing lessons, stories and ideas.

I am more than happy to share my knowledge of painting and drawing, at home or out in the streets, to help with any writing or image-based projects you might have, or even to create an artwork for your home, from my time with you.
