About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Having recently finished living and working in Asia for 5 years in Shipping, I am now working my way through Australia.

ABOUT ME

howdo people!

i'm adam and i would describe myself as a big, easy going, ukulele playing, partying, chilling, philosophizing, joking, spontaneous, outdoors loving kinda guy.

PHILOSOPHY

when traveling i try to absorb as much of the local culture as i can and not enforce my culture on others unless people wish to know about it.

i try and do this via soaking up the local music, sports, food and drink on offer as well as talking with people as much as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Even though I've been a been a member of couch surfing for yonks I've done most of my surfing without the use of this website! But I guess it's now time to honour my host's and become one!

Plus I can never get enough of meeting new people up for bit of a giraffe!

Interests

i'm interested in music, sport, food and drink.

i play the guitar a bit but love messing about on any instrument i can get my hands on and jamming with others. for traveling i have a ukulele with me which i have found is always popular with everyone, but is also the ultimate hitch-hiking tool!

sport is also a big part of my life. i'm bit of a jack of all trades, like rugby, rowing, climbing, boxing etc. but a specialist in none. but i love finding out about different sports in other cultures and having a go at them if i can.

i'm a big fella so i like me grub and drink, but then who doesn't?! i also like to eat and drink as much local stuff as possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living in Jakarta for 14 months. Too many stories here but simply put was life defining and character building...

Worked and lived in a backpackers hostel in Oxford for 4 months while in my final semester at university. I travelled the world without having to leave the sofa once and still got a 2:1!

Spent 5 weeks in the summer of 2009 sticking my thumb out and just seeing what happened while in Ireland. After this I spent a month working at the fringe festival in Edinburgh (a must for anyone who wants to spread their money as far as they can and have an awesome time) Was truely living the life of spontaneity and adventure while in western europe (who would of thought?)

Also in same summer camped on a beach in Espino, Portugal while learning how to surf - watching the sun set into the ocean every evening just never got dull!

Summer of 2007 - Getting pulled over by the police in Austria for cycling up the Autobahn the wrong way, on a bike that wasn't even mine. - loooong story with maaaaany experiences involved, to be told over several jars!

Countries I’ve Lived In

Indonesia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste (East Timor), United Kingdom
