About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Go to South America!

ABOUT ME

I grew up moving around every few years, and have always enjoyed seeing new places and learning how they work. I love to observe daily routines, and to explore new places to understand their similarities and differences to other places I've been. It's a very instinctive and un-scientific research process, but lots of fun. I love to draw, so perhaps it's no surprise that I work as an architect. It's a job that allows me to think about so many beautiful possibilities for the future, at the scale of the city, and the scale of the human touch. I've also become an avid runner over the past few years, and really enjoy distance running for the chance to spend time outside, and having time to myself to think and let my mind wander.

PHILOSOPHY

Be yourself, embrace yourself - all of your quirks and limitations. Fill yourself with new experiences and challenge yourself, in order to expand yourself. See the best in people. Be open.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm currently looking to surf, more so than host, because I have three other roommates and not a great amount of space. But I am happy to meet up or help to show people around the city when they are visiting. And perhaps I can convince my roommates to be a host soon. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to CS, but so many of my friends rave about it that I had to try it! I have been a part of WWOOF previously, and loved the friends that I made during that time.

Interests

Drawing, art, running, playing soccer, new languages, history, making lists, hiking, riding my bike, meeting new people, cooking, slacklining, playing the didgeridoo (though I'm not very good).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I just discovered The Books, and I love it. Also like so many varieties of music, but lately: indie rock, bluegrass, and electronic. Nicolas Jaar, Beirut, Beach House, Fleet Foxes, to name a few.

Reading - I love to read, but currently just try to keep up with the New Yorker magazine. The last few books I read were:
-Tenth of December by George Saunders
-In Persuasion Nation by George Saunders
-Tropic of Capricorn by Henry Miller
-Death on the Installment Plan by Ferdinand Celine

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saw the sun rise from the top of Mount Fuji. Snorkeled in the Great Barrier Reef.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you circular breathing (for playing the didgeridoo), haha. And English. And I used to teach swimming for a few years, so perhaps that as well. And I can help you learn to draw / sketch - it's one of my favorite things to do.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Guam, Italy, Japan
