Overview
About Me
I enjoy hiking and backpacking, the outdoors and building things with my hands. I like to dream big. I try to be an exciting and encouraging person who does the things he talks about and shares the things he does. I enjoy the uncertainty and challenge that travel can bring. I believe that travel and adventure should make us better people through the friendships made and the experiences had.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because sleeping on a stranger's couch is way more exciting than sleeping in your car's backseat. Also, I enjoy meeting new people and sharing stories with new friends!
Interests
I am an aspiring woodworker. I want to follow this passion to a career as a custom furniture maker. I enjoy long backpacking trips. An Appalachian Trail thru-hike is on my radar in the near future. If I had the choice to vacation in Florida or Idaho, I'd choose Idaho. One day I want to hop on a freight train and ride the rails from the back of a boxcar. On rainy days I like going to antique stores and checking out old tools.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've read everything by Frank Peretti. Bill Bryson's books are hilarious. I like classics such as the great gatsby, the grapes of wrath, to kill a mockingbird. Cold mountain is both a great book and movie. I really enjoy Gary Clark Jr's bluesy rock n' roll. Switchfoot is a favorite band of mine. Old-timey bluegrass is fun.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While backpacking through the Ouachita mountains of Arkansas, I stayed up one night holding a poncho over a small, struggling campfire in the pouring rain. I knew that I wouldn't be able to get a fire going in the morning if I let the flame die out. I didn't get any sleep that night but I did have a blazing fire in the morning! It was amazing in that I will never forget it.

What I Can Share with Hosts
I make pretty good easy-over eggs. I can also cook delicious Slovak food, although I can't always guarantee it will be delicious! :) I can share a few stories from the limited travel adventures I have had. I like listening to others' life/adventure stories. I know quite a lot about chickens and little about green building methods.
